It never fails to amaze me when someone starts an RIP thread on someone's death that we always get the jokers, cynics and the darn right rude responses.....

I have been a member on this forum(C4) for 5 years, and nothing has changed...

If you were to here of my demise I am sure you would all post angels and say how sorry you were, as we have sadly seen many times already. Frowner

I have my opinions on people's deaths, I have cried for Farrah and Michael I don't know if the tears were for them or my dear sister who I lost a year ago this week but they were my tears and I had them for a reason!!...as does everyone. All I ask is for us all to respect each other's opinions and if yours are that far away from them to maybe not post them...I don't mean to sound harsh, just the way I feel...

Thanks for reading...X X X

I agree. I feel sadness for EVERONE that passes from this planet to (hopefully) a better place. However I find the saturation cover in the media rather too much to take.

It should of course be IS!

Hi Lal....firstly sorry about your sis Hug

But the way I see it is, I'm saddened by MJ's death, without a doubt. And for the whole day whenever I've seen the words written or heard them on the news, it's evoked the same saddness from me. I can't believe he's dead.

However, I appreciate not everyone liked him and as long as the 'humour' side of things remains tongue in cheek I don't see the harm. Maybe today isn't the day for it, but on the other hand not everyone is going to share the same sentiments and you have to account for that.

Exactly, I for one am dizguzted and appalled that the jokes that are relieving my anguish at this time are being criticised. Without them I may never crawl out of this abyss of grief.

I think it's also worth bearing in mind that some people find it offensive when they see people professing grief for people who they have never met, like Michael Jackson, the Princess of Wales etc. I'm not for a minute having a go at anyone who finds that something like this sets off a grieving process for someone they have lost themselves, and realise that can happen. But I don't think that is the case with the majority of the people who post in threads like the ones we've seen today.

When I die, I want my funeral to be funny and unconventional. I want people to wear bright colours, laugh, and joke about all the silly things I've done in my life, take the piss out of me, and I want to force them to listen to the sort of music they've always groaned about. The last thing I woudl ever want is for it to be a sombre affair with weeping and wailing.

I feel much the same about threads on death. If someone posted that they had lost a family member, friend etc, I would of course be respectful, and offer my condolences, because that is personal. But the death of a celebrity is very different, and I can see no reason for people not to express their feelings, or why anyone should be expected to display fake grief or respect when they don't feel that way.

Sorry to hear about your sister, it's very hard when you lose someone and often it gets a lot harder before it becomes bearable. I lost a very dear cousin in March and Michael and Farrah's untimely deaths bring it all back plus my cat is poorly at the moment and I am worried about her. It's been one helluva day for a lot of us.

Keep your chin up, I am with you all the way x

everyone deals with death differently but i think everyone should respect others grief and how they display it

i personally cannot understand people crying over someone they have never met, equally people probably can't understand why even a month on the death of my dog hurts so much.

I would never slag someone off for how they display their grief or for the things they grieve over, and i would hope people would be the same with me.

Haven't cried for either Michael or Farrah,(I didn't know them) but must admit to having a weep for my parents,I think whenever a (for the want of a better word celebrity) death is reported, people go back to their family roots and remember deaths within the family.. Crying

i do think that its how different people deal with death ive been to many funerals and there are people there who will joke about
,and others who will cry openly
i wonder if its the same on here .
i agree with people staying out of the thread if they are going to be disrespectful to others feelings
my self i think that death can be a welcome release from pain and suffering and nothing to be afraid of its one thing we all have to deal with,my motto is live your life as if every day was your last Hug

In a case like this it is better to log out if you are upset, or ignore posts which you feel to be negative to MJs death.

I have been very upset about his death because his music has given me hours of pleasure. I liked him. I pitied him. I only watched CBB when his brother and sister were on because all I wanted to know about was Michael. I would call myself a fan, without doubt. As a fan, I have a right to be sad at his passing and post that fact. As it is the right of non-fans to post their comments.

However much I dislike the jokey comments made, I always stick with the Voltaire take on things 'I don't agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it'.

RIP Michael xxxxxx

I agree Marg - I just think that is somebody's life that is over, it shouldn't be (sick) joked about Frowner

My opinions on a recent death were SO FAR from most people's, but I kept schtum and didn't stick my oar into their threads....

Those RIP and angel threads for celebrities really creep me out. Also, when people talk about the dead being in heaven and god taking care of them creeps me out a bit too. I'm being serious here, they really do. Perhaps those posters should desist in respect of my feelings? Or, alternatively, we just all get on with it as we wish and not be so sensitive about the written word?
