It turns out I'm completely wrong Paul McCartney wrote it and sang and played all the instruments himself when he turned up early for an Abbey Road session. It was used as an opening song for the film Magic Christian and released as a Beatles song and was a big hit despite the fact Paul was the only Beatle who performed on it. You learn summat new every day, eh?
Aha!

I was a major Jam fan - even climbed down a tree next to my bed room window to go to a concert my mammy said I couldn't go to cos it was a school night, just to see them   Stafford Bingley Hall - ahh those were the days

I also shamelessly went out with a guy that looked just like Paul Weller only a foot smaller

LOL Ninja - that song always sounds so impressive and you imagine die hard leather jacket wearing rockers singing it... and then you see the beach boy lookalikes.,

Were you talking about The Animals? AS I remember - in their day they were quite subersive ........not Beach Boy types at all. i guess you had to be there.
It was just that one video to be honest.

Funny what sticks in your memory, isn't it?

Re:  Badfinger.

I can remember them having a high profile at the time mainly due to being signed with Apple.  And I can also recall how it all went badly wrong for them - mishandled/lost money (millions) and the suicide of Pete (or was his name Dave..?) Ham.

I thought Macca wrote 'Come and get it' as a dig towards the Apple 'suits' who royally shafted Badfinger...?

I only know this because my cousin was a huge Beatles fan and used to stake out Abbey Road on a daily basis.   Off for a Google to see if I can find anything more.

Matt Munro.    Sinatra thought he was the mutt's nuts.

And, Alan Price got dibs on the rights to House of the Rising Sun (credited as written by 'Anonymous')... and didn't share the credits with the rest of the band.  Burden was furious and the band fell out big time.
