Awww. I'm so sorry to hear that Katty. Really hope he perks up and manages to eat soon.
Aww Gypsie..ma poor old Rio has been such a good boy up 'till now.I think his time is drawing in... Little gurl "Clio",his wifie is a tramp..well,show her some veg etc and she's off munching...trollop!
I am keeping my fingers crossed for him, It might be something really easy to fix
Gypsie..I know you have bunnies.I have two totally house rabbits...Rio bun is an old guy..he has problems now, however he has been a great rabbit."Cleo" the diva ,his "wife" is half his age...she has up till now been the most vet attended fur ball...Cost wise she has take my bank balance for at least ÂĢ300. pounds..#
Seriously to folk that think rabbits will make good pets etc with Easter Time coming up etc. Please think on.They are fragile animals health wise actually, they cost vet wise etc.Give your child etc a furry toy instead...please..
I agree, the cost of vaccinations for rabbits are outrageous and they need them every 6 months! However i wub them this year they have their own special bunny chocolate eggs (from pets at home) and i may even let them get away with not dressing up in big ribbons with bows
How is Rio today . Katty ?
Still much the same,he runs up to me begging food etc,but when I offer he turns his nose up.He's eating his veg and will mooch the budgies seed and wild bird food.He just won't eat his usual bunny diet.sigh.
Sorry Rio is no better Katty But at least he is still eating some stuff... and drinking... which has to be a positive sign.
Yes Baz but he's now 3 Kilos,,he's lost nearly three quarters of a kilo in weight. That's a lot to a bunny ,about three stone in human terms.

No,he's eating veg.Brocolli, dandelion leaves ,carrots etc. However he won't touch the usual bunny mix.He is over 7 years old a grandad rabbit really. He had a full dental procedure a month ago, they stated his teeth were not in the best shape, even after the treatment(Bunnies teeth grow continiously, his front teeth were fine, the big old grinding back molars were not so good. The vet at the PDSA which I'm attending stated he'll X-ray him a week on Friday, however that won't show up any soft tissue problems(cancer)Meanwhile his "wifey" bun little gurl Cleo is an absolute Tub,as she's hoovering up all the leftovers.
Awww poor Rio but at least he is eating something. I hope as Sweets has said, that he learns to adjust to his teeth at the back but they must be killing him if he doesn't want to eat with them
Aww, poor little bun - I hope he is okay x
Some hopeful news Rio has started eating his bunny food the last few days and chomping down on his veg! He's actually been jumping up on the sofa beside me and "mugging" me for food.He goes to the vet on Thursday, hopefully he might have put some weight on,though it's early days yet.Fingers crossed, the anti-biotics seemed to have helped him.
Thats really good news, katty Hope you get even better news on Thursday xx
Oh that's good news Katty. *Keeps fingers crossed*
Ohh Blooming pets,ya worry over them etc.
This is nice to hear katty
Well they are part of the family I don't know how many times mam told me to wait before going to the vets. I just wanted to stop anything before it started though
Sproot you can wait with some animals, cats dogs ,even smaller furries. However rabbits are a more delicate creature. If they don't eat for 24 hours their guts can go into shutdown mode it's called stasis. It can be fatal if not treated. They are not a pet I'd recommend for young kids etc.
Alas on the "One show" last night they highlighted that they are still the most dumped pet. They said for kids get them a hamster or gerbil, stay clear of rabbits.,
Oh and I'd shut down "pets at home" well their rabbit dept anyhoo....
I know Katty, I've had a bunn as a pet
Ah sproot,I always preach about buns, sorry. I see fluffy baby buns in pet shops etc and rabbit re-homing centres are overflowing with unwanted rabbits that have grown into large, demanding, kicking, sometimes aggressive adult buns.
They get bought, housed in an unsuitable tiny hutch etc.The kids get fed up with it,no one wants to clean out the hutch care for the "stroppy" rabbit...sigh.

Katty good news Rio is on the mend
Awww, katty! Bless his woffly chops
We're a pair of geriatric critter owners - Gray the hamster (or Gracie as my MiL calls her) is now well past three and STILL going. Looking a bit doddery and bald between the ears, but still pootling on..
Aww Deman, that little grey is still pootling along, bless.Well, had Rio back at the vet this afternoon,he's put on 100 grams (significant for a rabbit the vet saidi),some more anti-biotics for him.The vet stil hasn't got a firm diagnosis for him.Possibly a dental abcess, maybe a stomach /gut problem. However he's still eating well so fingers crossed his troubles are over...sigh!
Great news katty, poor thing, hopefully he is on the mend
Good old Rio, I'm pleased for you Katty.
Oooo, looking hopefull
Mah old boy is hanging in there...c'mon Rio!
