For what it's worth..

I think C4 want BB10 to flop, correct me if I'm wrong but they (C4) are looking for a handout from the govt aren't they ?

Well a successful show wouldn't give the proper needy impression would it ?, but they have a contract to fulfill so I see their position as being akin to Mel Brooks "The Producers", whereby the best result for them is a show that does badly.

I really think this series could have been a success, with the making them compete to actually be HMs and the basic house, and the characters themselves don't seem like they're ALL desperate for fame.

But Ch4 are being so half assed they might as well forget it

that's just what I said on another thread! a real sucess is the last thing that C4 want, talk about going back to basics they're stripped BB of everything that made it so good, and yet still expect viewers to spend money on voting.I think the packing case furniture is all they can afford

It's the fact, they closed their own forum, pulled the LF and seem to have the ingredients of a dull BB in place (thus far), I could be wrong but when you consider C4 are looking for govt funding, it makes some sort of sense imo.

I dont think its funding as such, that they are after, or that they WANT the show to flop,
they are however terrified of anything "controversial" happening in this series, hence the closing of the fourm and the lack of live feed, cause if there WAS a bit of a stink, they would have NO chance of any funding from the gov, and they cant afford to loose sponsors either,..... it doesnt bode well for the rest of the show,
for instance supposing there was another Shipla incident or the N word thing, or spitgate, or Alex with her shooting threats,...WE would never get to see it, and the papers woould have nowt to be OUTRAGED about,
HOW we are then supposed to get ANY idea of the real nature and personalities of the HMs is beyond me, they might as well have put actors in,

i'm with mary, it's back to basics, to give ch4 the benefit of the doubt. maybe a return to a social experiment it was always meant to be.the mix of cultures, nationalities and orientations is far more varied, i would say than any other year. I also understand the times is reporting it too, has that always happened? or is it an attempt to drag themselves upmarket and be taken more seriously? as they(ch40) have been in constant and ever more serious trouble with the populist 'circus freak' type of show?

I don't mind the back to basics stuff, but in early BB we did have online LF at least. I just want the LF back.

Possibly. I can see that angle also.

Slightly OT, I personally think it would spell the end of C4 if they were to receive the govt funding they seek. Wouldn't it neuter them, effectively making them just another BBC ?
