I came home from hospital last night to discover that the dogs have completely shredded one of the base cushions on the sofa. Partly our fault as we'd taken the cushion cover off to clean it after Wilfy had an accident the night before. I just looked on line and to replace the foam for the cushion is going to cost over ÂĢ100 and they recommend you do all corresponding cushions at the same time to ensure they match for firmness etc. That's going to cost us over ÂĢ200 for two bits of bliddy foam!

Don't settle for the first quote QOTHT, shop around you might find cheaper on eBay. Good luck!

Cheers Squiggs, I will. I'm going to phone M&S later to see if they can do me a replacement. If I can't get it cheaper I'm just going to get a new sofa I think. I'm not paying over ÂĢ200 just for some foam.

Yeah good thinking, I mean they are ALWAYS advertising half price sofas on the telly, might as well pick a nice one and take them up on their offer. You can get 'nothing to pay for the first year too' which might help with the expense of the little QOTHT due any time now
just why is foam so expensive, i enquired about having 6 dining room chairs reupholstered and they quoted ÂĢ250,i opted for a new dining room sweet instead.
that's annoying. owing to our cats we've given up on having beautiful furniture and have opted for nice throws, they're cheaper to replace
although they wouldn't stop a dog shreading what's underneath.

I know! I couldn't believe it when the quote came up. I can't believe people pay it either.

Oh my goodness
New baby, new sofa - it makes sense to me
Our dog always seems to start licking a certain patch of carpet (nothing spilt there or anything so don't know why). We are always worried that he is going to dig through, but he hasn't yet (mind you, both our rabbits are having a good go at a different bit of carpet ).

pets and sofas dont mix
We got leather sofas in the hope the cats would not scratch them but one of our cats has a leather fetish and on the very first day we got it he scratched one of them
We should have known as he does that to our shoes aswell.

Yeah, our dog has trained us into saving him some meat from dinner (or in the event that there isn't one, cooking him a chicken breast) and feeding it to him as treats at bedtime! We just know we're making a rod.....
Queen, are there no local markets or local firms that sell foam? I had the same thing when my darling greyhound decided she was going to scratch a great hole in one of my chair cushions to make a lovely bed for herself!
Like you I was quoted an arm and a leg, so I checked out a couple of markets, which I know is difficult for you at the moment, or try Thomson Local or Yellow Pages and phone round> I got all my suite foam changed for what it would have cost me to buy one piece of faom for the chair.
BTW the greyhound is still allowed on the chair, but now prefers the settee!!

ive just printed that pic!
my two greyhounds are black-apparently the black ones get the most overlooked at the rescue homes cos people prefer the 'pretty' ones, brindle etc..
when i got my first, she came out of the kennel, gave me a huge grin and licked my nose and it was love at first sight
she picked the second one-she took to him straight away
i love greyhounds-id have more if OH would let me
My house rabbits have chewed the corner of my sofa at the back down to the wood frame and also the edge of an armchair.A bloody new suite I bought last Easter!
The old suite was 15 years old,not a bloody nibble on it.
I still love them though.

do you want me to bring the greyhounds round and 'teach em a lesson'

My brother has two black greyhounds and was told the same thing, yet his girls look lovely, their coats shine, more so than my Roxy who's a brindle.
I just fell in love with her when I saw her at the kennels, she came bouncing out to me and that was it, we were not going home without her!
I would have more greyhounds as well, but I have three cats and my husband says one dog at the moment is enough, but I keep showing him the newsletter I get from our local RGT and we keeps saying "We'll see.." so watch this space.

I don't think they'd survive the lesson!
I'd love a greyhound but rabbits and greyhounds a serious no no.

awwww!
thats a shame, theyre sitting at the front door waiting to go
theyve got their shoes on and their umberellas ready and everyfin..
i'll tell'em theyre not needed
Saying that rabbits can get on well with some dogs as long as they are brought up together, obviously not hunting/chase type dogs, terriers and greyhounds.
