It could be constipation. My cat had problems lasting for years, but I never had this with my dog. Have you changed his diet recently? Or perhaps he needs more fluids and or fibre in his diet? If he is getting on in years he may need a diet more suitable for his age. You could try asking for advice at a reputable pet shop perhaps?

I can't offer any advice that hasn't been given, the change of diet would IMO be definitely worth a go, but would like to send a to him.

If you are unable to get any help through PDSA or Blue Cross, any vet should give you a payment plan. If they won't, change vets!!

My dog Murphy started doing it a couple of years ago when he was about 12. It carried on until he died last year. I think it was just an age thing. It was never full poos, just like little nuggets, it usually happened when he passed wind and got a little bit more than he bargained for. Most of the time he seemed oblivious to it. His younger brother Paddy has started doing it occassionally now too. Try putting him outside a litle more frequently than normal and encouraging him to poo while he's there.

He hates it yogi. He waits until I've washed everything down and changed his bedding and then I still have to call him in. I hate it when he feels embarrassed because it's not his fault. He's been such a clean dog for 13 years, it breaks my heart.

He hates it yogi. He waits until I've washed everything down and changed his bedding and then I still have to call him in. I hate it when he feels embarrassed because it's not his fault. He's been such a clean dog for 13 years, it breaks my heart.

So at least that rules out he is protesting against something I know how you must feel though, my angel (who is asleep beside me) is coming up for 13 now and her legs don't work as they should. It breaks your heart especially when you know they think they are going to get a row
