We lost my brilliant, funny dad in the early hours of this morning. He'd gone into hospital last week and was very unwell for a while, but was making really good progress, and the doc was talking  last night about arrangements for him coming home soon. It all changed so fast.

Spose I'm trying to say take nothing for granted, and take every opportunity to let those you love know that you do.

Slinki, I am so so sorry for you at this terrible news, as you may know I lost my beloved Dad last week so I know that this is so hard for you. we are all here thinking of you

You must be feeling very very numb at the moment as it all happened very fast.

You are so right when you say take nothing for granted, my own Dad said to me `live your life to the full as you do not know what is around the corner`......wise words.

My thoughts and prayers are for you now.... take care

Hi Slinki

I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my own lovely Dad in 2004 and it still hurts now.

I hope these words help you as much as they helped me.xxxx

You can shed tears that he has gone

Or you can smile because he has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back

Or you can open your eyes

and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him

Or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday

Or you can be happy for tomorrow

because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he’s gone

Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,

be empty and turn your back

Or you can do what he’d want:

smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Clumsy I've not been around here much so I didn't realise you've also lost your dad

We always know and expect our parents will eventually slip off this mortal coil before us, but it still comes as a shock when they go

Pengy, yes my lovely Dad died a week ago now, he battled with a brain tumour for 3 years, 3 ops, radiation & chemo... he was told that no more could be done.. heartbreaking to watch, and he was gone 10 days later.... devastated does not come into it, he was only 62 and very very fit.

I feel so bad for you Slnki, no words really
