A FAMILY of gypsies are making wealthy neighbours' lives a misery after being housed by a council in a ÂĢ1.2million semi - that is a total WRECK.

Tom O'Leary, 42, and wife Tanya Walsh, 39 - who live on benefits with their 12 kids - have spent a year in the five-bed home at Muswell Hill, North London, which they say is owned by Haringey Council.

 theres the gist of it

Jenstar I can't quote but I can say I can spot a Gypsy a mile away!  Not sure what it is about them but they are easily recognisable.  That sounds awful but it isn't meant to be.  We were going on holiday last year when a family of gypsies sat near us and my OH remarked that the young girl was a bit 'under-dressed' shall we say and I said that's how most young gypsy girls dress.  He argued that they weren't Gypsies (parents were too well dressed according to him) but they ended up staying at our hotel and he got chatting to them.....I was right and they were a nice family and the kids really respected the parents.  Half way through the holiday I went into the lobby and saw a busload of holidaymakers had all arrived and I knew they were mostly gypsy families....seems they'd all come for some sort of gathering.

That was a bit OT   Back on topic.....I think they've had enough from the goverment already after 12 kids on benefits and an expensive house.

Yeah Ella point taken, i just meant if they behaved well they wouldnt be getting crap from all the neighbours (the same area as Tony Hadley doncha know!)

The more people are given, the less they do, and the more they expect!

I think thats the thing that shocked me, they must get so much money in benefits with 12 children (oldest being 16 i think) and 5 bedroom house like that in that area for free! And still feel hard done to!

14 people in a five bedroom house isn't exactly luxury!

Fair point Blizzie but they chose to have that many kids knowing they werent in a position to provide for that many, i suppose if im honest im a bit jealous (lol) because they have all that and they dont care about it. They think they deserve to be given more. I'd love to know how much they get a week ontop of their child benefit, rent and council tax.

Completely agree Jenstar.  It's absurd that these people get a five bedroom house handed to them, and all the 100s of pounds a week tax credits and child benefit and God knows what else.  (Rent paid/council tax paid and so on...........)  Don't have so many bloody kids and then expect the state to keep them!

Funny how it's largely people on state benefits that have loads of kids.  Most families where one or more parents work don't have so many kids; mainly because people who don't have massive state handouts and everything paid for them, can't afford loads of kids!

*cue someone posting to say they have 7 to  10 kids, and 'work for a living and have never claimed any state benefits or taken state handouts.*     Before anyone says that, make sure you don't claim tax credits or ANYthing, before you jump on me.

Another lot  living rent free

Grace and favour living

In 2005 the Palace was asked to declare which Royals and which courtiers were not paying any rent for their accommodation in the Royal Palaces. The Palace duly obliged by naming Prince Charles, Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent and Princess Alexandra. Six members of the Royal household, including the Mistress of the Robes and Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures, had acquired similar grace and favour status. Their names were disclosed following pressure from the Commons Public Accounts Committee

I am getting a feeling that you don't like the Royal family Erin........................judging by this and other posts I have seen by you..

Not being funny, but no amount of posting about how the Royals get stuff free, is going to change my mind about how I feel about state scroungers having loads of kids and living off state handouts.  In my opinion, you can't possibly compare the Royal Family to state benefit scroungers

You are not speaking about "stuff free ,YOU are speaking about the waste of tax payers money.YOU are speaking about people living in big houses  and not paying rent.YOU are speaking about people being  financialy funded by the Government and not working.
Only YOU want to take that issue up with Gypsies and not the Royals.

Just carry on with your Royal family bashing Erin.  I'm not listening.

Royal family bashing is pathetic IMO, as they OBVIOUSLY have no choice in the life they have been born into.  And to compare the Royals to state benefit scroungers is ridiculous.  But don't let your hate for them stop you slagging them off.  Just don't expect me to take a blind bit of notice though.

This thread was nothing to do with the Royal family Erin.  You've just used this thread as an excuse to bash the Royals because you hate them.  Bit lame IMO.  So NO I am not prepare to discuss it any more.  I've said all i wanted to say, and don't intend to repeat myself.

BTW EVE EVELYN.  WRONG!    So sorry to disappoint you my dear.

Irish Travellers (Irish: an lucht siÚil, Shelta: Pavee) are traditionally nomadic people of Irish origin with their own language and traditions, living predominantly in Ireland but also in Great Britain and the United States of America.[1][2] Travellers refer to themselves as Minceir or Pavees in their own language or in Irish as an Lucht SiÚil, meaning literally "the walking people". The European Parliament Committee of Enquiry on Racism and Xenophobia found them to be among the most discriminated-against ethnic groups in Ireland[3] and yet their status remains insecure in the absence of widespread legal endorsement.[4]
