Can someone explain to me the diffference between Sunni and Sheite Muslims? I thought Muslims were supposed to be one religion? Sorry for any spelling mistakes.

not sure, I can ask my friend, she just said she is muslim though... didnt know there was more than one
As I recall Sunni Moslems also range from the ordinary to the stricter wahabi lot. There are also different Jewish sects, and I don't know if the OAP knows any Christians but they're are absolutely stacks of different One's.
The difference started when Muhammad died, The Sunni's wanted someone who was capable of the job so Abu Bakr, became the first Caliph of the Islamic nation but the Shia muslims believe that leadership should have passed to a blood relative like his cousin Ali, so both have never recognised each others leaders..
Neither will say which group they are from but will just say they are muslim and their religious beliefs are exactly the same....

Theres more than that, theres loads of different types of Muslim, some believing different things from the others. Like what profit did what etc.
I knew that capitalism would rear it's ugly head- it always does! Less profit and more service (evensong) I say.

Duno,But I always snigger @ Sheite
In that case I should avoid German Footballers past and present. Uwe Fuchs is the least of your worries.
I have a friend who's Muslim, she's one of Lovliest people I know. She let's me ask her questions about the religion, there are different sects yes
I don't know what they are tho, but through knowing her, I don't judge anyone who is Muslim because the extremists are a small fraction who give the rest a bad rep!
Me, I don't follow a religion, but I will take the trouble to educate myself about the one's I don't understand
I've got a friend who's Muslim too Sweet.. I met her because our sons were friends at Primary school, we used to share the school run & pick each others kids up. I used to love listening to my son & his friend talking about it. I learned loads... because their conversations were very innocent.. i.e. my son would ask the questions we would feel we perhaps shouldn't ask... likewise his friend would talk about his education at the mosque, how he felt when he heard people demonising Muslims and how he felt when he heard muslims demonising non muslims.
The boys Mum used make me laugh.. during Ramadan she used to put a stone on... yes, they couldn't eat or drink during daylight, but once the sun went down they used to eat & eat & eat & eat. There were lots of other things as well.. she was a long way from the stereotypical image of a muslim woman. (she got an evening job, and used to money she earned to get a load of cosmetic surgery done during the summer hols when she visited her parents in Lebanon.. she came back looking like a supermodel )

I nearly got kicked off my uni course because I told one 'liberal' Muslim girl who I thought I was good friends with that I found her statement that anyone who converts to Islam is actually a revert offensive.
The current ideology by a lot of young Muslims is that everyone is born a Muslim but our parents take us out of the 'true religion' and make us all infidels by following other religions i.e. Christianity

see Pengy.. that I would call quite extreme.
as I said, the girl I know doesn't judge others on their religion.. just as she doesn't expect to be judged on hers.
I have never heard her say the word "infidel"
there's no way the girl that said that is a liberal muslim

my feelings exactly Ditty but the head of school didn't see it that way - he upheld her accusation of racism against me without even giving me a chance to defend myself.as I said, the girl I know doesn't judge others on their religion.. just as she doesn't expect to be judged on hers.

I was only 'saved' when other students threatened action via Student Union - not just from my course. Surprisingly or unsurprisingly none of them were Muslim - they all sided with this girl. The accusation still follows me around to this day and almost caused me a nervous breakdown
Trouble is I no long trust any Muslim because she's coloured my perception of them
bloody hell Pengy!!
worra cow!!! (nothing to do with her religion... muslim, christian, buddhist or jedi... what a cow!)

Actually, Pengy, I wouldn't have found that offensive. Christians also believe that theirs is the 'true' faith, so she could have meant it in a 'welcome back to the family of God Allah' sort of way.The current ideology by a lot of young Muslims is that everyone is born a Muslim but our parents take us out of the 'true religion' and make us all infidels by following other religions i.e. Christianity
I find it much more offensive that the Jewish religion only allows for people of Jewish birth to be saved i.e. you have to have a Jewish mother in order to be Jewish and only Jews have a covenant with God. Obviously, not all Jews believe that, but that is the orthodox belief, so no conversions are allowed within some Jewish sects.
By the way, I'm not justifying what happened to you. That sounds like it was a ridiculous and over-the-top reaction.

I totally understand what you are saying about other religions believing there is the one true religion (I hear the precious)
I always work on the premise that all organised religion is bolleaux....and dislike all variations of it equally
........ And disorganised religion too!
