Not directed at you personally BTW Big Grin

Well I don't hate him, but he annoys the hell outta me and the beeb are constantly overhyping him which doesn't help matters.

He fought hard, I'll give him that, but there was only a gnat's bollock between the two of em, IMO.

I'm a Fed fan though, so pretty much every other player out there annoys me Ninja

I can understand anyone being a devoted fan, doesn't mean there can't be healthy competition from any quarter though.

I think Roger will probably win again this year, but it's nice to see a British player doing well?

I think so , anyway Nod

I didn't like Henman either.

In fact the only British tennis player (in my time) that didn't make me wanna eat my own head, was Jeremy-second-round-wonder-Bates. And we all know how well he did Ninja Laugh

And yes, healthy competition is good and that's why I'm kinda sad (honest Ninja ) that Nadal's not there cos although I'm sure Fed's gonna win, it's kinda by default without him.

I still don't understand why you can't support Murray?

He's a twenty two year old guy, who has made a fantastic improvement over the last year, and is our best hope in as many decades.

I'm going to win you over before the end of this tournament. See if I don't Big Grin

The best player we've had in decades, I agree.

I think it's his hissy fits that get me. McEnroe always made me laugh with his cos he had charm and charisma with it. I look at Murray and see a spoiled, overhyped, egotistical brat Ninja

I must be a bit older than you.

McEnroe has mellowed over the years, and is a brilliant commentator, but comparing Murray's behaviour to him is frankly laughable.

Nice talking to you, I'm off to bed now wavey

Nooo... I acknowledge that McEnroe was a bugger, but like I said, there was summat about him that was ultimately likeable.

I really hope you're older than me Big Grin

i wouldnt say that proves his chances are bad if you had watched his previous matchs you would know his 1st serve has been one of his biggest weapons today his 1st serve was rubbish he would have won this game easily if he had used his 1st serves better tho on the other hand his reture of serve was very strong and is what i think overal won him the match also i feel he need a match like this against a big strong phisical guy to prove he could win over 5 sets and Wawrinka is far from a noboady normaliy he is in the top 10 ranked players he is now making a come back and has one of the best back hand shots in the game of Tennis Nod.

It was a gripping match, and I enjoyed watching him play and backed him all the way but I wish he would crack a smile once in a while rather than walking around with a face like a smacked arse.
he is and will be better than Tim,and Tim is the first to say this, but IMO Tim flew the flag very well for Tennis for many years and should get the respect he deseerves for it too, I am very disappointed with the negativitiy on here for Murray, why can't we just enjoy when we have something good instead knocking it all the time.

The way the commentators were going on about the climatological effects of closing the stupid roof during my admittedly brief experience of the thing yestereve, you'd think it was on a par with making the players wear deep-sea divers' boots and smoke cannabis at each end change

Nod

Bizarre how the other fella managed to get on with it, ennit Confused

I thought it was a fantastic game and I'm glad Murray won.
But it seems to be a peculiarly British thing, that anyone who is any good at anything gets slagged off by the negative public.

I've heard it said that people in other countries can't understand why we're so disparaging of our sports stars, constantly knocking them down instead of getting behind them.

Frankly, I don't get it either Confused

My dislike of him has nothing to do with his ability LGS. I've been surprised how well he has played and how much he has improved over the last 18 months.

My dislike of him is about him as a person based on things he has said and done. I would have no problem cheering on his brother Jamie because he seems like a nice guy.

I am just sick of this 'it's alright to continually knock the English' attitude that he and others have.

I have never slagged off Jezza Bates Shake Head

It also seems to be a British phenomenon to believe that any native who picks up a racquet at Wimbledon is gonna win.

can you elaborate on what it is Veggie? I didn't like the comment when the world cup or Euros can't remember which it was, mad me quite angry tbh, but I can forgive and forget I think he's worked on his image a lot, and I think he isn't very articulate when talking to the press, but he is improving.

Not without it causing WW3 on here with some of the Scots probably LGS. Big Grin

suffice to say I don't like him and will not cheer him on when he is competing as himself.

I would however cheer him on when he competes as a member on the Great Britain team whether that is in the Davis cup or the Olympics etc.

Because, like when Cashley Cole plays for England, I am cheering the shirt and the team not the person

you can be proud of being where you come from, as I am, but I'm mostly I'm proud to be British and at the beginning of his career he was vocal negatively about the English enuf said as I will be vilified too. I've never heard him do that. The most I ever heard him say (which completely flummoxed the interviewer) was to say he thought of himself as Scottish first and British second. Nothing wrong with that.
