I think Andy Murray busted a gut out there tonight, and was pleased to see the fantastic support he got from the crowd.
The petulance and arrogance seem to be a thing of the past,i hope he wins over a few of his critics this year because what i am seeing is a far nicer person who seems to have matured and wants the people behind him.
His mother-well frankly she scares me

Murray is too good to lose to Wawrinka.

But hope he is not tired for his next match.

I jusy saw a medeocre player struggle his ass off for a place in the quarter finals.

You can hardly call him mediocre as he's ranked No 3 in the world. warwinka (sp) played his socks off and gave Murray a scare.

It's no bad thing really ..it'll have sharpened Murrays senses somewhat.

Very unfair to describe him as mediocre though .......just had a bit of an off day.

I'm not gonna get into an argument about this. He struggled. FACT. And in my opinion (to which I am entitled) he is mediocre.

An opinion shared, I might add, by Mr J McEnroe.

Well said Soozy woo Clapping He is talented no matter what his nationality is.
Wawrinka is a top player, he won olympic gold last year.

Murray will beat Ferrero, just hope he isnt tired for the match.

I think he is the best British player we have had for ages. But given our track record, that's not saying much considering we haven't had a half decent player since 400 BC so whether he's mediocre or not.. well only time will tell.

It was a gripping match, and I enjoyed watching him play and backed him all the way but I wish he would crack a smile once in a while rather than walking around with a face like a smacked arse.

Thats what I call her!

The state of tennis in this country is crap, yet we've still somehow managed to produce two top ten players in the last ten years(Henman was no slouch really!)

Dunno what it is about McEnroe...he certainly has a downer on Murray and forgets Murrays beaten both Federer and Nadal this year.Only time will tell whether Murray can sustain the level hes played at this last 8 months or so...but I'm enjoying watching some British interest!(and if it means my kids will get off their arses and stagger the 2 minute walk to our local tennis club because hes inspired them,I'll be happy) Smiler

Tough match, yes, but he came throught it.

I'm completely staggered at the level of negativity on here.
I had no problem supporting Tim Henman when he played, even although I knew he would never win Wimbledon.

I don't think Andy will win this year, but I think he will win a a major soon.

The comments on here regarding his mother were completely out of order.

If your son was in a Wimbledon tennis match, would you not be supporting him?

I'd be doing nekid cartwheels, and does it really matter whether he's Scottish, or English?

We haven't had a male winner in seventy odd years, so come on.

Support where it's due. Clapping

Well said Clapping

Andy Murray's mental tenacity really impressed me tonight.
Although I was shouting at the TV every time he hit shots to Wawrinka's backhand......that backhand he has is lethal!!

I agree Katerina, Wawrinka played a fantastic match.

Nice to talk to a tennis fan , instead of a Murray hater.

Does that mean you like Murray then?

Not liking someone does not automatically mean you hate them - there are a whole range of emotions between.

My six year old understands this so I'm pretty sure it's not a difficult concept Hug
