Awwww poor Mr Wilfred
Accept my condolences too Pirate
He is in a happier place
ive just gone a bit beserk & threw loads of furniture/rugs/things outside the front door
im calmed now but im not fetching them back in-theyre gone
so sorry Pirate
when he went i whispered to him that we'll meet at rainbow bridge-im absolutley heartbroken-my eyes are like piss holes in the snow
he fell off settee last night about 2am-he'd shit himself-i picked him up, cleaned him up, he went back to kip-ive slept downstairs on other settee since before xmas
he got up at 10/11am- i did him his breakfast, cos the freezer has broke, he's got loads of chicken & i bought him a steak & kidney pie for his supper treat
so i go into kitchen, do his food, come back & he's splat on the floor outside, he's collapsed into the wee & poo he'd just done-i get him up after 20mins-wash him down
i text lisa & say-i think he has to go to vet
i cant take him cos id go bonkers & play up
so lisa takes him at 2.40pm appointment-he gets in car ok but couldnt get out cos his legs went
so vets get a stretcher & carry him from car to vets
wilfie is panting like mad-i thought he did that cos he was hot-vet said its cos he's in pain
vet said if we didnt have him put to sleep we'd be cruel
so he's gone
7hrs now
I am so very , very sorry Pirate But he was a very lucky dog cos his life with you was so full of love
i know i did the right thing but it really has left me heartbroken
i used to say to him
if i win the lottery **** it im not buying new teeth-im buying you new legs
he didnt have a clue what i was saying
but i wouldve bought him new legs if it was possible
the vet said its harder for greyhounds to cope when their back legs go because theyre raised to rely on them as racers

He isn't in pain any more and he's at peace. He had a great life with you and he knew he was loved.

So sorry to hear your news.
Aww Pirate I think everyone here knows how much you loved your dogs, just think of him being reunited with Minty and them both running around in the clouds pain free. xxx

That's a nice vision Jen
Pirate
ive not been on here since last week-lisa came back saw the stuff on front lawn-put me in the car with a bag of clothes & bits & pieces & we went to her parents caravan in weymouth & we spent a few days there-which in hindsight was a good idea-mind you it was bloody hot
we're back now & im trawling the net to replace things i got rid of -ive bought a rug & a sofa so far
but
i need to say thank you for putting up with me & your kind words
i know people might think-its only a dog-but my dogs were like kids to me
i prefer animals to people about 90% of the time-theyre honest, they love you unconditionally & never judge you for who you are
Pirate, I don't think there's anyone here who thinks "it's only a dog." Animals have helped me through some of the toughest times in my life, and they deserve all the love and admiration we can give them.
i went to weymouth-lisa packed my bag-i put a green army t-shirt on, jeans, boots, dark sunglasses-in the heat my hair has gone really curly, like effing ringlets, when i get the sun i always look swarthy...walked into the local, i got greeted with 'f*cking hell its colonel gadaffi' and 'its che guevara'
good job i know them
Pirate you are right, they aren't just animals, they are part of our families.
We love them and they love us and Wilfy and Minty were lucky to have you.
