Does anyone really care?

If it is changed to the 'Elizabeth Tower' Will that name be in use for any length of time - if at all?

Apparently one of the sister towers used to be the 'Kings Tower' and was changed to the 'Victoria Tower' - does anyone know that and does anyone use that name? Does anyone even realise there ARE towers there? With or without names!

Big Ben is officially the bell. So I think it'll be 'Big Ben in the Elizabeth Tower' instead of 'Big Ben in the Big Ben Tower/or Clock Tower'

But as far as I've always understood, when folk speak of 'BIG BEN' the bell, clock and tower are being referenced all rolled into one,

So as you say I don't really imagine anything much will change and people will still talk of 'Big Ben' meaning it all.

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing

Something as iconic as Big Ben will not imo, withstand a name change

if they're that bothered about giving her a monument how about they take their noses out of the trough and put their hand in the pocket and pay for something   and not be able to charge it as expenses so we the public end up paying for it

you're right about Big Ben only being the bell but to most here and overseas, they see it as the whole thing rolled into one

I remember my mum took my brother and me to London when he was about 7 and I was 4 and mum said look there's Big Ben and he looked and saw a huge dog and for years thought Big Ben was a big dog

With Dave's habit of overcompensating, I'd bet he'd sooner suggest calling it Lenin Tower than actually own up to how much he's in uncle Rupert's pocket.

When Tony got the Olympics, he should have negotiated toadying to the establishment as an Olympic sport. We'd definitely be in line for a medal judging by our lickspittle obsequious MPs.

To cheer everyone up in these doom and gloom austerity times, they could rename it Big Fun in honour of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman 80s boy band.

Big Fun, assuming they're still alive and not in jail, could retitle their hit Jacksons cover, "Blame it on the Boogie" to "Bong it on the Boogie", at the renaming ceremony.
