Christ Cagney......do you find time to sleep?
I've been a movie buff since about 5 years old
I can see my DVD and video collection from here. I could rattle off all 1500+ titles but I'd bore you and some are cringeworthy

I love movies but very rarely do I want to watch them more than once.....so own very very few DVDs. I'm a cinema goer at heart. It's best that I watch them in the dark where no can see or hear me, cos I'm usually either crying or screaming
I don't know why, but I feel the need to ask you if your DVDs are alphabetical?

Alphabetical and in genre. I had special shelving built to house my DVD collection. My old video collection is there too and it's costing me a fortune to replace them on DVD but it's worth it

Ooooooh nice Must have taken you ages! The three DVDs I own are alphabetical too.
Not that long at all Ducky seeing as when I buy them I put them in order straight away. Hence the need for special shelving
This is a good thing because at birthdays, Xmas etc people know what to buy me. I'm not fussed about anything but adding to my collection. I have them catalogued in a book and on the computer too. I'm sounding like a real saddo

Noooooooo not at all. My brother has special shelving too. I haven't enquired as to his cataloguing skills though..... but I will now!

Oooh dunno if I want to say..... they're definitely in the cringeworthy category!Mamma Mia
Jesus Christ Superstar.
Gladiator.
It appears the only films I can watch more than once either involve songs, or Russell Crowe looking unusually hot.
I've never seen Mama Mia
Gladiator is good.
When I look at my collection the ones I go back to are old 80s movies

I loved it. I went to the cinema after my last day at a school I'd worked in for five years....I think I was still a bit emotional cos I cried all the way through it.
To be honest, the DVD is still in it's wrapper, it was a Christmas pressie from someone who doesn't know me well enough to know it was never going to be opened.
Gladiator is amazing! That one I got my money's worth from
Back on topic.......PROM I NOMINATE GLADIATOR...cos it's the only film I've watched on DVD at least ten times. So it must be good!
Well that and Jesus Christ Superstar, but I'm not going to nominate that one because it's embarrassing.
Maybe I have a thing for Romans?

Loads of my DVDs are still in the wrapper. The ones you can't touch are.....
Indiana Jones
Karate Kid
Back to the Future
Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter
Police Academy
Star Wars
Loads more but I'd be here forever
These are the ones I've bought 2 copies of. One to watch and one to collect. Special shelves for the "untouchables". NOBODY touches those shelves.
Just watched a great film called The Story of Anvil. Like Spinal Tap...the true story. Excellent and actually pretty touching at the end.
Probably alone in my thoughts but when I watched Apocolypto I was glued to it even though there wasn't a word of English in it (if you knew me you'd know how much I hate having to read and watch at the same time) I didn't even have to read most of the time because the visuals told it all.
I might be a bit weird in my movie choices but:
Kickboxer
American History X
BraveHeart
In the Name of The Father
Wedding Crashers
Rush Hour (1 & 2, 3 was pants)
Hear no Evil See no Evil
Hotel Rwanda
Die Hard
What's Love Got To Do With It? (Tina Turner Story)
The Hangover
Meet the Parents/Fockers
I LOVE Van Damme and Steven Seagal films.....no matter how bad they are!

History X is a great film. The curb scene is one of the most powerful bits of cinema I've ever viewed.

Yep, it's violent but one of those scenes you will watch again even though you know what is coming.
Samuel L Jackson is also one of my favourite actors....I forgot to mention that in my list

Not ALL of them! But there have been a LOT (specially Seagals most recent ones) that I've watched and thought 'thats 2 hours of my life I'm never getting back' but even though I know it's pants after a few mins I always watch the whole film :S Not very sure why.....just really like those 2 actors. But aye, I do have weird taste in films *blush*
an officer and a gentleman, the jackal, croc dundee 2, groundhog day, waking ned, patriot games, grease (queuing all day in sheffield has to be rewarded), battle of britain - on now
I love all the old American musicals Calamity Jane.. Seven Wives for Seven brothers .. to many to mention

That's her dictation issues, not mine Anyhoo, back to films. I saw House of Flying Daggers again a few days ago. First saw it a couple of years back and thought it was ace then, watching it again I think it's blinking brilliant
One of my all time favourites though is Enter the Dragon. The mirrors scene in particular.

Oh God Steven bloody Seagal. Plastic fantastic. The only man who can crawl in tunnels, be in the centre of explosions, jump in the sea, fight 60 men, miss death 100 times and STILL not have a hair out of place.
Zulu a true story I never tire of seeing that film

I really enjoyed that too....

Most/all the ones I would list have been mentioned I think.
As Madamski said Imitation of Life. Really fabulous old weepy
Life is Beautiful - it's in Italian with subtitles but is such a great film, so funny and heartbreakingly sad too.
Murder in the First. Kevin Bacon is absolutely brilliant in this film as is Christian Slater. In fact all the performances are riveting.
As Cagney said Jumping Jack Flash. Whoopi Goldberg at her best imo
Loads more too.............

Two Will Smith films I loved are The pursuit of Happyness and The Legend of Bagger Vance. I found I was glued to the screen for both to see how they ended and I like Will Smith when he does an understated role
i remember a horror movie from years ago called `they live` bout aliens living among us & this guy could see through their diguises as he had these special glasses...
sounds shoite (and it might be tbh) but i remember liking it.
neve seen it since

Towering Inferno. No matter how often I'd seen it I HAD to watch it again if it was on....even if I stumbled upon it and it was part way through, I just had to watch the rest of it.
