Do you get on well, is she from a different planet? mine is, she is the most obtuse, opiniated pain in the backside everrrrrrr, good job I don't see her from 1 year to the next. Oh and btw she has absolutely no sense of humour, really.

Mine is an interfering old bag, to be honest, and treats my hubby as if he is a helpless 4 year old. She loves being the centre of attention and a control freak ggrrr
Mine was lovely, it's her son I can't stand

My Father in Law is a bit of a twat too. He has the most rancid breath you have ever smelt. In fact at my daughters Christening the whole church smelled of it

My mother in law is truly evil. Unfortunately I have to see far too much of her - Mr G always feels obliged to invite her over on Christmas Day But he loathes her with a passion too and has always called her the Filth Hound from Hades
We can dream

I doubt that
I'm not being biased but I reckon my Mam is the best MIL ever.
She's everything you'd want, never gets involved, never takes sides, doesn't pry, doesn't boss...keeps well out of it and will lend her car/money/anything if you ask nicely.

That actually makes me feel a bit sick
My mother in-law is just gawjuss, a total lady and I adore her. I'm very lucky because my sister has a mother in law from hell who makes her life intolerable. Guess its the luck of the draw.

My MIL died aged fifty ...........we had been married for about ten years at that point. She lived some distance from us but ........when she visited she made her mark. Since she died I dont think my house has had a thorough clean since In all honesty ........not really a bad woman but ............very unfeeling - she was never bothered by my kids - not her own either - it was always business first.
I know it sounds awful but ...........i'm glad I was able to live the majority of my married life without her influence .............she was incredibly opinionated.

my ex mil used to drive me potty, she did stand in and help when my daughter was born *my mum fell ill the day i had my daughter* but i came home from the hospital and she had changed every room in the house so when she went home, i but evrything back in the right place the next day she came round to help me, i went for a bath and she changed everything back again she is an interferring gran as well
get on fine with mine, although i am apparently the FIRST daughter in law she does like...she gets on with my brother in laws new GF though....hated all his exs and my OHs
she doesn't like her sons in law either lol.
so she probably is a cowbag to most, she is quite prim and proper

Aimee ....................I know where you're coming from. As I say - fortunately my MIL died (how horrible is that) but ..........you have to find a subtle yet firm way of standing your ground there. Start off with the small things but gradually let her know ........it's your house and your kids ................you have to let it be known.
ohohoh plus my MIL had a word with my OH about him being too soft on my eldest...something which i've been tryng to tell him for ages (hard for him i know as he is a stepdad...but i feel like the bad guy all the time).
course he listened when he mother told him too i didn't even ask her too..she noticed herself lmao (probably saw my eyes rolling )

One day I may be a MIL....
And I suppose... if I don't like my son's partner (god make me like her, god make me like her, ) then I could morph into an evil one!
Dunno whether I could be arsed though... I mean I have to put up with his strops now... any future woman in his life is welcome to strop back at him!

My mil died about four years ago, she was lovely. never interferred and rarely had a bad word to say about anybody.
My mother, now she is the most selfish, self centred, self obsessed liar. I love her she's my mother, but I can truly see her just how she is. The mental arguments I have with her....
I don't want to upset her, she's my mum
