Since Ted's announcement re Mods it's obviously brought up a lot of varying issues for some FM's. Now the Mods have been chosen there's still some overspill but those that have expressed their concerns/views seem to be doing it in a non confrontational way..unless I've missed something. As long as it continues in the same way it's healthy for the FM's/Mods and Forum in general to express themselves till all the issues are ironed out and people make a choice that's right for them of whether to stay or not. Change is sometimes personally challenging.

Yes, I did think some of what growly said was a bit below the belt, but really it was only words.

However, punctuation....a colon is used to separate........

REALLY?!  LOL, I know about colons, I wanna know about when you stop doing colons and start doing ......It's this bloody internet!

Oh, you were actually meaning'....' and not just tailing off.

Well, one use of several dots is for tailing off, where you either expect your audience to know what the rest of the sentence would be or as an inference.

They can be used to separate statements, yet link them together at the same time. Like a lot of Soozy Woo's posts.

I thought I was going mad for a moment....

though this post seems to be deleted, and I only seem able to see it in this quote.....

Fluffy, this is the bit I meant....Sorry, BUT there is no way, I would have ever read these kind of words from Lori, becasue she is impartial to it. And IMO things dont get dealt with this way on here,  never did I see a mod pass opinion on a FM (ex FM) like THAT in "public"

Just saying

I don't think it stinks Zazz. I personally feel that the two (three? two?) people who left didn't really give it a chance. I'm reeeeally sorry to see Gypsie go, and she's going to be terribly missed, but I just feel disappointment that she didn't stick with us. <<< genuine sad smiley.

I can't think of one other way of appointing mods that would have made those not happy any happier. Voting for example, would have alienated people just as much (maybe more so). The people who strongly disagreed with FMs being made mods were never going to be satisfied however Seattle organised it.

I feel it was inevitable that some would leave, but I don't personally believe the "system" introduced is to blame. Many more have stayed, and I'm sure there are many (myself included) who just don't see it as a big deal. There are also lots of people who feel wary about it, but are giving it a chance regardless. No one is right or wrong of course...it's just different people handling things in different ways...

Send Gypsie a feathery huggums from me please.

It's a shame they couldn't have been ironed out before people left but I do agree that discussion is the way forward

I agree, with the given it a chance thing....and Gyps wanted to go before last night, and I talked her in to giving it a go, but it's not for her...I will pass on your hugs!! I assume you have her over on face book? If not, ADD her! (thought you will be bored with talk of cats)

I want it to work, Im not anti this place (me and the missus fell in love here!!!) BUT I do sometimes think there are other ways round things, for me I would feel happier if I had no idea who was mod, but then to others, that would annoy them, not knowing...I guess not everyone is going to be happy, sadly. And while it may seem I am being dead negative, I just dont wanna see anymore people leave or not give it a go..

I dont, I think the healthiest thing to do is let forum members speak about how they feel. You expect a bit of slack???

So do I! and  I am sure, so do others...or is better to lose more FMs coz they arent allowed to talk about it?!

madness!!

The original thread was open for replies. The new thread is closed. Why do you think that is? The fact it got to 16 pages and not all of those were pats on the backs for those who volunteered? The fact that it caused people to leave? The fact that they went ahead regardless of anyone's worries? The original thread should have been closed. The volunteers should have done it in private and if chosen should have remained anonymous.

No, I don't have her on FB Zazz...but I will add her now you've told me to (I have a bit of dislike of thrusting myself on people without being invited

And for future reference, I will NEVER be bored of cats!

I know this place means a lot to you Zazz It's obvious.... because you stayed despite your strong objections! Just make sure it stays that way! It's probably gonna be uncomfortable for you for a while, but things will settle down eventually.

I disagree, people have the right to express their opinion be it for or against the changes. Personally, I disagree with some posts having been removed which under the old management would not have been.

San

So the forum has lost 3 forum members, sort of defeats the purpose of the changes that were to expand the place if it's lost 3 members in 1 day ,I'm sorry Growly and Gyps have gone, really sorry.....I do agree with Yellow Rose that is is more productive to discuss whatever issues FM's have ,with a view to resolving it if possible. What's the alternative put up or shut up resulting in more FM's walking away.

I disagree with mods posting things, deleting them, then denying saying them

I think it's probably closed because being able to post in the sticky makes people feel that Ted should automatically reply to every question, when in reality he probably does not have the time. They know that if we want to say more, we can chat about it down here anyway.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion on how best to organise something like this. As Zazz said up there somewhere, some people would have been very uncomfortable not knowing who the mods were, I know I would, I much prefer it being open and transparent.

I also like the fact people were able to volunteer and weren't "chosen".... I believe it's less divisive in the long run. But then you could also argue that if people volunteer you don't always get those most suited to the job. It's all just individual opinion though. No one method was ever going to suit us all.

Ducky

I like this place.     I didn't want FM mods for a variety of reasons.    I have concerns about impartiality and professionalism in some quarters (not all) - especially when BB is on.   However... as far as I'm concerned - badges under a name mean diddly squat.    Some people have always tried to pour oil on troubled waters, some people have always rushed to the report button.   I guess that's not going to change and the same things will be happening forever more - sometimes it'll be a mod doing it sometimes it won't.   I'll be hanging around but I'll get p'd off if I see posts disappearing and threads locking without us being given same sort of leeway that Lori always did.     That said, I'd like to know who we report a Mod to if we feel that they're not doing the job properly please?  Is it an email to Ted or what?

No, when we had each other on Facebook, we spent the whole time dribbling over each other, rather than socialising on it, and as things progressed, it was mental sitting having dinner and a chat, and posting to each other on the net Did you find her?

zazz

fwiw - I thought Fluffy was quite brave being the first to exert her powers.    Technically she was following the letter of the forum law - maybe she was premature, maybe she wasn't.  I'm sorry Gyps has gone though and I hope it's not the start of a mass exodus.  Not until I've made up mind about the new situation anyway

I'm not suggesting not having a discussion, I'm suggesting not having it in this thread as it seems to be getting a bit tense. In my experience tension does not lead to a good discussion. The suggestion was to let things cool, nothing more, nothing less.

But it's true Zazz, instead of expanding FM's are leaving, not good....IMO there were some good suggestions in the sticky thread that may have made a common ground possible, imo no-ones concerns/opinions were taken on board.
