Were we not also told, Fluffy, that we shouldn't talk about people who are not here? yet while tripping someone up for calling out "real" you then go on to say stuff about Growly who isn't here?

I'm not being funny, But I don't think I have ever seen Lori call anyone out on something, then go breaking rules herself...I honestly don't see, modding and posting as an FM working out well, and in my humble opinion, you should all just be called "mod" so none of us know which mod is posting and use your normal IDs to post as FMs...

of course, just my opinion!!

zazz

one of growly's posts was deleted as well... so it's started already and Lori wasn't around.. the post was not a bad one just her opinion about Mods campaigning for the job in a post alongside her other opinions of the 'FM's as Mods' thing... it had no need to be pulled just cos peeps didn't like the content, it didn't break the rules, it was an opinion stated courteously..  am not feeling good vibes so far at all..

also perhaps there is less brusque manner in which to post if you are ticking people off ... Lori had it down perfect. . kind of a jokey warning to start with, then getting more and more serious then locking threads if peeps didn't stop and very rarely deleting posts.. that's the way to do it

Mount Olympus *Olly*

Olly, I didn't think this was going to happen, but I actually agree with you!

I don't care to an extent who is a mod, or what infor they have, but I do care about fairness and being treated like an adult, and THAT last night, from where I am sat was just a power trip (I dont need shooting down for the post, it is just my opinion, that I am trying to word politely.

It wasnt like the whole thread had turned into a witch hunt towards Real which I have seen happen on here, and it has gone on for pages before any mod has stepped in to then go on and break a rule by talking about Growly when shes not here, baffles me, and makes me more curious as to where this place is going to go!

(cant belive I actually agreed with one of ollys posts, or that I even read all of it )

zazz

Zazz, there's a practical problem with your suggestion as the moderators would have to have one email address for them to be a moderator and another one as FM. We can only log on as one person at any time, so that would mean logging out from our FM ID each time we needed to post as moderator, log back in as moderator, then reverse that when we wanted to come back in as an FM. It would be easy to get confused and start posting under the wrong ID.

i think some people will never agree with it though so sadly will always be looking for the negatives, if they do feel that way then maybe it is time for those people to leave instead of trying to win points

Aimee

why should we leave Aimee, why can't we comment as everybody else has done? just cos some of us aren't bowing down and clapping  in congrats doesn't mean we don't care. . it's not about point scoring at all..

and tbh removing a perfectly ok post is not a good start neither is a brusque tone when reprimanding.. a soft and gentle hand is needed for Modding roles..  if I am not allowed to say what I think because it doesn't toe the party line there has to be something wrong there.... and as a long time member surely I am allowed my say just as all the happy clappy, go with the flow, backslapping people are too..

What i mean is this is how things are going to be here now so we either get on with it or join somewhere else, i don't know which post you are on about being removed but they've only been doing the job for a few days so there are bound to be teething problems and if people keep pulling them up about what they are doing and they pack in then we'll probably be shut down and i think none of us want that, let's just give them a try and see how things pan out

Win points with who?

It's sad we've already lost 3 members because of this. I can only speak for myself but if the only qualifications needed to be a mod here were simply to PM Ted then maybe we all should have done it. Equal power and all that. We all started off here on the same level and to appoint mods from within at this stage is only asking for trouble....IMO.

I'm willing to give the new mods a chance but I get the feeling it won't be the people we all suspect testing their new powers. It'll probably be their friends because "it's only Fluffy/Jen etc and I get on great with them"

Cagney

Cags, I don't think it will be quite like that...   I am friends with Jen, and if anything its the exact opposite for me...   I am not wanting to get involved in difficult discussions (such as this one), for fear of putting her in an awkward position.

But I get what you are saying

I feel a bit removed from it all tbh...   I just think what'll be will be.    But then I think I have been suffering from a bit of forum fatigue for a while now, which would probably explain my lack of strong emotions about any of this

In my opinion we are still on the same level

So in effect you're censoring yourself because she's your friend? That's not gonna make for great discussions if everyone thinks like that

But we're not. I didn't want the job myself before anyone comes on and thinks otherwise but after seeing the 16 page thread and losing 3 members maybe in hindsight the decision should have been made privately and the mod (I see no need for more than one) remained anonymous.

well...   as of yet I haven't, cos I haven't wanted to say anything controversial..  but yes, I could see that happening.

I tend to self censor on here anyway Cags...    I do a lot of sitting on my hands.

Am thinking back to the odd times where I have got riled...    and actually, no I don't think Jen being a mod would have stopped me posting back then.

I really don't know, I suppose we'll have to wait & see.

Does it honestly matter who moderates the forum? Someone has to do it - the folks in seattle don't want to do it anymore so it's down to us. Good on the FM's who volunteered - I certainly couldn't be bothered. I come on here for a bit of light relief and really wouldn't want that sort of involvement or commitment.

People are getting disgruntled at the way it's been handled - as I see it we didn't have much choice. In a few days/weeks we wont even give a thought to who's monitoring us.

Some have voted with their feet (I think they'll regret it) - it was their choice - personally I see nothing to be gained by picking away at it. Why don't we just see how it goes - nothings gonna change except to make those who have volunteered feel bad - and that's not nice IMO.

For the record, if any posts were deleted it was not done by me, nor did I discuss Growley herself, but I did make mention of the post's content.

As far as I was concerned and am concerned the matter was/is over.

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing

As has been said before Soozy...everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm giving mine. I'm not on often so I might post a bit later but it doesn't make my opinion invalid. I've never been one to "suck it up and see" so if I have concerns I air them. I'm not arguing with anyone and I'm certainly not picking away at it. It's a new development and it needs discussed. Things might not change because of it but it doesn't mean we have to sit back in silence. There are a few who disagreed with the way this was handled. A minority maybe but still members of this forum who should be listened to.

Cagney ...............i never thought nor said that your opinion was invalid. You have every right to post your opinion as I do mine - that's what we are both doing.

But it seems those who don't agree are being told (in not so many words) to shut up.

I realise it's not gonna change the situation but I needed to say what I did. It's off my chest now

Cagney

I think there needs to be a bit of a rethink....because, not claiming to know everything, coz I don't. But this already is so wrong.......is there anyone here who is actually happy that now three people have left becasue they were not happy? Coz I think it stinks, and while someone said to me about nobody is made to be unhappy....sorry, from where I am sat, they have.

but to me if what they do do is so obviously wrong they need to be pulled up in the early stages so they too can learn how to Mod.. after all they volunteered so that we could 'save' the community but surely we should all get a little bit of input too when things are going wonky?

Also if non of them have ever done it before it makes it even harder to know what to do as well without feedback

I'm not happy about it at all but I'll be honest - I think it's an overreaction - there I've said it. As for Growly she stated from the word go that if we were to take moderators internally she wasn't going to stay - she kept to her word. Unfortunately in life you can't please everyone. it's not an ideal situation but it is one day old - is that a fair trial? If we have to be moderated (which i think we do) what other way of doing it is there? Our 'hosts' clearly see this as the way to do it - I don't see an alternative. I do think it should be given a 'fighting' chance though. it's preferable to no forum at all.

And I think I'll butt out now cause i'm sounding preachy. It is simply my opinion.
