Lee, in my opinion it's not worth worrying over. We have little choice in the matter and for those that have applied I think we should try and give them a little support and try not to be negative about change, this is not the preferred option of the majority...but change happens and like it or lump it we have to accept it or take the other alternative. That's what it boils down to and I'm willing to bet those that do the job will do it well and fairly

I don't think a lot of the comments were that negative really. Maybe we're being realistic rather than pessimistic. We've all been around a long time and have seen what change does. It certainly didn't bring out the best in a lot of people here when we moved. I hope the new mods aren't pushed too far and regret their decision 

I still don't get what all the fuss is about tbh. Forums need Mods, Seattle asked for volunteers and some have stepped forward. Only if any FM's step over the guidelines will they attract a Mod's attention. If FM's post appropriately they won't have a problem, it's down to individual responsibility and maturity.

Not that I'm saying any of the would be mods aren't, of course.... but we don't know yet who's all thrown their hat in the ring.

From what I've observed over time I think the 3 I know of who've volunteered have the right criteria to be good Mods here. I'd be surprised if any more than 3 have dared to volunteer after seeing all the posts on the threads

We all posted with mods on channel 4 and didn't know who they were Cags, The way I'm looking at it, all of those that have put their names forward including Lal are fair minded people, or have always appeared to be so to me. The moderation on this forum as always been fair, and Lori and Co have done an excellent job, the new mods can only have benefited from this and hopefully will carry on in the same vein. we appear to have no other alternative, so I really am not fazed by it at all. 

here's hoping, I'm just waiting for the new mods party... I hope Seattle are paying

Oh well, it's the end of an era for me.  I've made it clear just what a seriously bad idea it was to appoint mods from within the existing membership, given all the history over the years.  I couldn't have felt comfortable with ANY of the existing FMs being mods, although I could possibly have given it a chance if Seattle had approached people who they thought were suitable, rather than inviting self nominations, and having FMs virtually campaigning for support. 

I've enjoyed posting with many of the people on here over the years, and will no doubt bump into some of you again in the future. It will be interesting to hear who is the first person to get banned for atrocious spelling or poor grammar, and how long it takes for Real's latest reincarnation to be bopped
