I won't be flouncing, but I will be leaving because I don't feel comfortable with any of the existing FMs becoming mods.

Says you. I tend to think a flounce is something more dramatic and attention seeking. The people who have said they will be leaving, or consider leaving, when the change happens have only stated it in measured terms in threads that are specifically about the change in moderation.

No, I don't think it's a flounce- I have always thought that flounces happened after people got into arguments with other people, and that's not the case at all.  I made it very clear in the sticky thread that I didn't feel I could stay as a member of this forum if existing FMs were appointed as mods.  I'm not leaving in a fit of pique, but I'm also not a hypocrite.  Having said from the outset that I think it's a receipe for disaster, I'm not now going to change my mind and stay once the new mods have been appointed. 

GROWLY why not give it a chance? You will be missed if you leave

I think the next few weeks will either make or break this forum. 

As I said, I'm not a hypocrite.  I don't think that any of the current FMs would be able to do the job as mod without showing some bias.  There's just too much water under the bridge for that to happen. 

If it breaks we will fix it, no need to worry. just post away as normal.

I really can't see that it's gonna be much different. It's not often things flare up - when they do it's pretty obvious when things need sorting and .......someone has to do it.

What if there's someone who has volunteered who has upset quite a few FM's before?  Will we just have to put up and shut up or can we express our concerns and it be taken into consideration?

There's no-one I really dislike on here but there are a few who I would hate to see as mod purely because of how they post on here.

That's one of the reasons I'm concerned.  I'm sure that everyone on here has upset someone at some time, and whether or not they are able to act impartially towards people they've had disagreements with in the past, they will not be seen to be acting without bias by the people who they have upset previously.  But seeing as the overwhelming majority of people who posted in the sticky thread originally said that they didn't think it was a good idea and have had their views ignored, I very much doubt that there will be an opportunity to raise concerns about individual mods. 

Well, I'll not be doing anything different.   I wasn't a fan of having FMers as mods, but the saving grace is the candidates I've seen so far I don't recall being part of any of the past crap (but I miss a lot) and don't have any obvious bezzie mates on here.  That was hard to word without making it sound like they've no friends, but I know what I mean!  

As Soozy says - it's wait and see.   if it works - and the mods don't get p'd off with it - great.  If it doesn't, i guess people will vote with their feet.

Yes there is that but ...............................I've only ever been PM'd by a mod once (and I did think it was a bit unfair ) I'm not gonna change my style of posting - if I suddenly start getting warnings and bannings it's then I'll rethink my position - and probably decide it's not the place for me.

Appointing Mods from within the forum changes the whole premiss of this place. . when C4 closed [yep I am harping back to that again, sorry to those that are bored of hearing it ] a number of places sprang up, all run by various old C4 members but Gaga [eve community as it first was] is the ONLY place that we could all go and not have anybody that was an old C4 member running it. .

For me and I suspect a lot of others that was the main attraction and was why the place kept going where all the other places became quieter or probably more private type forums. . this was a DS type equivalent for BB fans... and its appeal was the fact it was run by strangers to ALL of us. .

but as Growly says the majority felt the same in the sticky thread yet still it seems we had no choice, or our voices weren't heard so looks like we have no choice but to suck it up or leave

I am sure we may all have 'Upset' somebody unintentionally on here (I know I have), but if you want to have a forum (family) then you have to respect each others foibles and join in with them or not.....the choice is yours..

I have never been PM'd by a MOD on here other than re some techie stuff and name changing for the MM and if I start getting them under the new management I am definitely joining Growly and pissing off..

I have also never used the report button on here and very rarely did on C4 apart from in the LUT when late night drunken knobs popped in and tried to be funny... aka Keith Lemon styleee and ruined the Live Updates. . I prefer stuff to be dealt with in the open and not hidden or deleted or discussed via loads of PM's  

I've never used the report button either but I think people may be more cautious about it now because they might think the mods might 'discuss' it with others on here away from the forum.

(note to El loro and Fluffy....none of my concerns here regard either of you.  As you'll see in the sticky I was one of the first (if not the first) to suggest El loro and I've never had any concerns about Fluffy, it's just me wondering about others who may have applied and not mentioned it yet)
