Eh
Teaching children to swim this time!! It should stop - replacing it with teaching children to stay away from water!!
https://www.hexham-courant.co....attersley-crawcrook/
I've argued this for years - if you learn to swim it encourages swimming, the only people who stay out of the water are those that cannot swim and have a healthy respect for the dangers. Learning to swim at school should be banned.

Itâs problematic Renton âĶ.tbh I think all kids should be taught how to swim , but Iâm not sure how you legislate for the stupidity of some !

I would agree with Baz...All children should be taught to swim and thereby learn how to respect the water.
Accidents happen unfortunately
Gateshead Council Recycling this time . . . and it's happened twice now!!
If an item has been wrongly placed in the recycling bin the guys collecting are dumping said item on the pavement and walking away, leaving it to blow around the street or for people to fall over!! Surely that littering?

Monty Don this time - I'm wondering if he really knows what he's doing or is he using GW to push an agenda?
Last year Longmeadow flooded and many plants were lost, this year climate change is the topic of the moment and his advice is that we're going to have to grow more drought tolerant plants. So basically he's promoting the loss of our native habitat instead of promoting water conservation ... his place flooded for goodness sake!! So why not advise on how to conserve and store water when it rains cos we get plenty at times?
And while he was banging on about a drier climate he decided to plant up a bog garden which he then allowed to die due to the dry weather. Hows about storing water for future use and showing us how?

South West Water boss Susan Davy has more than trebled her annual salary with an award of more than ÂĢ1m in bonus and benefits despite overseeing the closure of beaches after raw sewage was pumped into the sea around Devon and Cornwall.
Ms Davy, who is chief executive of South West Waterâs parent company Pennon, is paid a base salary of ÂĢ456,000, but with her bonus, incentives and benefits the companyâs latest set of accounts show her total pay was bumped up to ÂĢ1.6m.
The boost to her bank account comes as more than a dozen beaches across Devon and Cornwall have been shut due to pollution.

Thatâs disgusting Slim
The shocking persecution of transgender people - try applying the same arguments you hear about transgender to gay people and witness a totally different reaction.
We're doing to transgender people exactly what we did to the gay community only a few decades ago.
The small hard core of people with a very real transgender need are not going to undermine female identity just like a book about a wizard is not going to lead young people down a dark path towards witch craft.

Listening to RADIO 1 news just now - leading with 'vaping' ... as if that's the most important thing going on right now
The news reader started by saying - and I quote, "We've all seen them everywhere, right"

Gateshead Council (once again) - as if they aren't pathetic enough they've announced the potential closure of leisure services as they're too expensive to run!! A fundamental service to aid people's physical and mental well being is not important enough?
But unrequested vanity projects like "arts instillations', Angel of the North, Baltic Flour Mill nonsense, The Sage are being "invested in heavily" <<< council's words not mine.
Oh and let's not forget the failure to pay female workers equal pay then saying they couldn't afford to repay what they were due cos it would bankrupt the council who then a few years later went 'cap in hand' with a ÂĢ1m to build a sculptor no one wanted.
