Spent 3 hours in A&E last night (left at 1.30am) - manned by stripped-to-the-bone staffing who couldn't have cared unless you were dying.

Mum crying and shouting in pain (wrist/arthritis flare up), "There's a 6 hour wait"

Cue a woman asking for help, "I have a heart condition and been suffering palpitations, my GP said to come up immediately"

Answer? "There's a six hour wait - take a seat". We left after 3 hours and all we got was some basic pain killers.

What a horrid experience for you and your Mum
I hope her arthritis has subsided today...it's a very painful condition.

So ... on the advice of A&E we could use our Walk-in Centre to get the treatment we would need

1.30pm Went to Walk-in ... "we don't do that ... doctor on 111 call told you to go to A&E" So back we went

2pm - 9:15pm We got blood test and X-ray then assessed (at 8:45pm) and are home awaiting wrist fluid sample results with the possibility of going straight back in for a night of antibiotics

I should start a thread called A&E Diaries - what an experience, you see all sorts!!

One girl fell from her horse, was knocked unconscious and was raising her voice and crying, "What's going on, where am I, I don't understand?!!"

Two people were vomiting blood!! And another was bleeding all over the floor from a severe leg wound - it was carnage

Mum had to have blood removed from her wrist and was crying with pain - I had to leave the room - eventually ... all was clear and it's simply an arthritis flare up. Hopefully never, never again!

It may well do Saint...but at least you'll know the signs and hopefully you won't have to go through the trauma of A&E again.

VIRGIN MEDIA - I knew things couldn't be that easy .... I can't stream iPlayer properly anymore. Been onto them and they say nothing's wrong ... I know what's wrong - they cut my bill and cut my download speed cos when i asked if it had been reduced she wouldn't give a straight answer.

And so I'm getting a 'booster aerial' for free - Why? I've apparently got the new super fast hub - honestly no one can be trusted

Bit of an update - we're not too bad  - seem to have the milder variant, Mum not struggling too much, it's like a heavy cold and exhaustion. We seem to be on day number four and it's not too bad, no breathing problems - it's still a terrible worry for her though. Never felt so tired despite sleeping most of the day.

Three years of isolation and we go out in public once and get infected

Very relieved to hear you are both not doing too badly ...sending positive thoughts that it remains so

. . and they had to come back an hour later to recheck what the might not have done properly the first time. Why do they automatically shout at older folk? They were screaming then said, "Did you hear what we said to your Mum?"

The whole ruddy street heard !! What a day . . .

It's all worth it though - so much better than being a 'carer' for someone else's kids

Family - the most important thing .. I learned too late
