New potatos. Why are some of them green under their skins these days? I don't remember them being like that when I was younger and mam was around when I had to scrape them for Sunday dinner

Oh. Sound like a firm of lawyers.
SPECSAVERS - every time my Father gets his eyes tested he has yet another new prescription requiring another new pair of specs.
He must have ten pairs upstairs now at ÂĢ100 a pop!!!
I go to Boots (cos I'm posh) and have had my prescription changed ONCE in 10years!!

It's not a natural look at all - she was huge
She is pregnant, isn't she?
yes

Grosvenor is standard fare though I don't know every street in Jesmond
I'm more Brandling and Eslington area (where Catherine Cookson lived). And Adderstone Crescent - very nice, frequented a few houses in my time over there

I find that comment disgraceful and actually borderline racist. Serena Williams is a fantastic athlete, multiple champion and a great role model.
That comment says more about you than it does about her. Shame on you.
Surprised no-one else has called you out on it.
Had nothing to do with race - where do you get that from?
Her features don't look like they used to even from a few years ago.
Masculine - not a race thing at all

Saint, testosterone levels rise in women during pregnancy then fall back down afterwards. Serena Williams would be just at the end of trimester two.
Normal Value Range
- Negative Pregnancy Adult: 6 to 86 ng/dL or 0.21 to 2.98 mmol/L
- Pregnancy Trimester One: 26 to 211 mg/dL or 0.9 to 7.32 mmol/L
- Pregnancy Trimester Two: 34 to 243 mg/dL or 1.2 to 8.4 mmol/L
- Pregnancy Trimester Three: 63 to 309 mg/dL or 2.2 to 10.7 mmol/L
I thought maybe it was more to do with weight gain
Very interesting facts though El Loro
... and never meant as a racial comment

Untrue, Serena's appearance hasn't changed except for getting older and losing youthful puppy fat. I've followed her career since the start, as I used to be a big tennis fan in the late 90's. She was always powerfully built - from the start - that type of power hitting transformed womens' tennis around 1997-1998 when the Williams sisters emerged.
I'm going to make my objections clear, and then I'm going to avoid you for a while Saint.
1. You posted the photo of Serena Williams in a modern day annoyances thread accompanied with a disapproving "shaking head smiley" - so, simply disapproving of her appearance. There's nothing wrong with Serena there - she looks attractive if anything. Consider that photo - The two men beside her are, objectively speaking, not that handsome. Yet the attractive woman standing in between is selected for ridicule - seemingly for no reason, except for looking like a young woman with normal female black features.
2. In the next post, you deride her quite cruelly as being huge, and for having a face like a mask. She clearly doesn't - unless you consider having normal African facial features as looking like a mask ! Those comments together unfortunately remind me of the insult made in the U.S. [ by a politician I think ] about Michelle Obama looking like a gorilla. Michelle is [similarly ] an attractive black woman who is physically well built and strong like Serena.
3. Acceptable standards: I am certain if Saint's remarks were posted in the comments section under an online newspaper article they would be reported to mods, and removed for not abiding by community standards. Likewise I could not imagine it being tolerated on forums like digitalspy, or in the general sections of reddit. It's simply unacceptable.
4. Context of the comments: If I remember correctly, after Serena won Wimbledon last year, Saint then too commented on Serena's appearance - something quite unkind obviously, as I still remember it, but I let it go then. So the post I reported is his third deriding her appearance. The latest comments are certainly misogynistic and [ though not deliberate ] have implicit racial undertones given the wording.
It upset me, and I don't want to be on a forum where that's considered ok. It's not.
I would hope that Saint [though he's someone we hold in affection ] reflects on it, accepts he crossed a line, and moves on. No flouncing please.
Sorry if it upset you
I won't comment on Serena again
It wasn't meant to upset
It was in relation to her interview
I will remove the posts

Maybe nobody else read it the same way as you, Rog.
I didn't recognise Serena from that particular pic (I wasn't alone) - and I watch plenty of tennis.
She does look different. It might just be the extra pregnancy weight and it might not.
IMO, Serena isn't the prettiest or most feminine woman on earth but her sporting achievements are fantastic and she should be applauded for them.
The fact that Sainty doesn't find her attractive and thinks she looks "masculine" doesn't make him racist. If you think it does, you'll have to stick me in the racist box too.
BTW, I think Michelle Obama in very attractive, as well as warm and intelligent .

Calling a young black woman huge [she isn't ] and saying she looks like she is wearing a mask [ she doesn't] is unacceptable Yogi. Above, I see a photo of an absolutely normal human being, not someone who likes like they have a mask on. I've no problem if Saint finds her unattractive - but those weren't his words. Please don't distort what my precise objections were. He went far beyond merely stating he didn't find her attractive.
Uploading a photo - to a thread specifically for things we object to / find worthy of ridicule - with a shaking head smiley beneath it, would be ok if there was something wrong in the photo - but there isn't. It's just two white men and a black woman. I would have thought it unpleasant - but just left it. For Saint then to compound it by saying said perfectly normal black lady looks like she is wearing a mask - no - that's unacceptable. Sorry Yogi - completely unacceptable.
Perhaps, if someone had had a lot of cosmetic surgery or that, [ or if they do unfortunately look odd ] you'd be justified in saying they look like they are wearing a mask. For a normal young black woman to be described like that is appalling. Serena has been romantically pursued by several high profile, eligible men - she's not generally considered to be odd or freakish looking.
Your condoning a remark - that a perfectly normal young lady with black features looks like she is wearing a mask - is deeply saddening Yogi.

I'm not condoning anything, Rog. I'm simply saying I didn't read Saint's post the same way as you.
I accept that whilst Serena has put on pregnancy weight (totally normal), she certainly isn't huge.
I took the "mask" comment to mean she looks very different in that pic - so different that I didn't realise it was her.
As far as I can see, you are the only person who has raised the issue of race.
I think you have read far more into the post than was meant - but that's just my opinion.
Let's not fall out everyone
Apologies all round if offended
My point simply was that she has changed so much I was shocked.
... and i'm enjoying the tennis immensely by-the-way

CANCER RESEARCH UK
OMG - where to start !!!
As so many of our family have died from cancer we support this charity regularly.
So we dropped off a load of good quality stuff recently amd agreed to siging up for them to reclaim the tax thingy from donations,
Recently we received a letter thanking us and saying,
"We sold all the items you donated and raised ÂĢ2.83"
What-the-bloody-hell !!!!!
We gave them 2 pairs of new shoes worth ÂĢ20 each
Several cuddly toys and several items of bedding (unused)
And they flogged the lot for ÂĢ2.83
ARE THEY STUPID????
We won't be supporting like this ever again
