Cologne a full month yet! However those around me are texting and buying whatever etc.So far I'll stick with my basic phone options.

The thing I miss about older versions of phones versus smart phones is texting - I can't text properly on a smart phone - I've got smartphone gloves and a pen thing to aid me but it's so much slower than the buttons on an older phone.  But..... there are lots of lovely things on smartphones that more than make up for any negatives 

Yeah, I've got an older one too, a Sony Ericsson. I'm getting a smartphone soon 

If you decide to go for a hugely fangled 'phone, you must spend at least a day with young people to show you how to use it. I have an excuse for not changing. I live in a small village dipping down to the Tamar and will only get a signal once I've left the place, which is the only reason I have it. I need help if I run out of petrol.

I  would love an Iphone but I point blank refuse to pay money up front for it and then pay an extortionate monthly rate after that   but I do so want one and am jellus of anyone who has one

Same! I used to be quite happy my old samsung phone, then i started playing games etc on my bro's iphone just before Christmas... I got one myself a few weeks later and i love it!

i paid 35 quid for my samsung about  4 years ago..that'll do me fine.

I've got a stupid touch phone and I hate the thing.  The sensor goes all mental and doesn't respond when im furiously poking the thing.  I'm getting rid of it and going back to a simple phone with actual buttons.

I could get the 3gs with my provider on 3 but I want der 4s but it's £189 up front fee then £43 per month for 16 gb   32 or 64 are even more up front or per month and I just can't justify it

I used to have a £10 Samsung, pay as you go, which I spent about £10 every 3 months on.

Then work bought me a Blackberry, and I love it. 

I paid that for mine on payg and i put 10 pounds a month it (on voda, i get 300 txts 500mb and my tenner credit

no but as a provider I do like them - they've actually put it down I've looked again to £89 upfront and £36 per month for the 4s but no up front if you have the 3sg - but my current contract doesn't end till August 

I have always had a real cheapy and it's served me OK for calls and texts - before Christmas it went through the washing machine . My daughter gave me an old phone of hers but i can't work it out (because it's not Nokia) and TBH I'm not that bothered. I am mobile phoneless at the mo .............and - it don't really bother me. I'm a bit of a dinosaur TBH.

Jen, is 500mb enough for what you want? How much do you use? I'm wondering how much I need for when I get my phone 

Nuts - I use my home wifi and only really use my 500mb when im out and about.. which to be fair in my case i dont really have time to use my phone that much while im out cos if im out im doing things )rambling lol)

But my brother and his gf have simliar mb's on their contracts and the only time either have run out in the past 4 months is when my bro was using his to stream radoi all the time at work/on the bus etc

Ah right ta. TBH I don't think I will be using it much outside of home anyway either. I've got the choice of 1 or 5 gig when I look at Virgin's deals 

The only thing that really uses my mb is email updates and game/app updates, but you can turn them off (roaming data) if they become intensive on your allowance, i reckon (and someone correct me if im wrong) that unless you are streaming alot on your 3G then you will be totally 1gig

I always had a bog standard phone, if it sent texts, took a half decent picture and I could make a call.... fine  Then my phone knackered a month ago and my daughter insisted I bought a smart phone  and....I bloody love it  So easy to use, why I never went for something so easy to use earlier and so much fun I'll never know
