Why could'nt you Baz?

Mainly because I have all my info, contacts, dates diary, etc. on my Iphone Syd, plus of course there is instant access to the internet *on the go*

Yes, I think in some respects it was.... cos you could always pretend you weren't in if you didn't want to be bothered and answer the landline phone.....

I am talking about the real use of a mobile phone, when you cannot be contacted by landline Baz..

Isn't it easier to ignore someone with caller ID on a mobile, though? I know most landlines have caller ID these days, but if you don't want to see anyone and your landline goes and you answer it, annoying caller will know you're at home and you're buggered. Whereas with a mobile you can say you're anywhere and they are less likely to turn up at your front door!

True Karma.... But sometimes it doesn't matter who it is, I don't feel like answering the phone, but with a mobile that is harder somehow

Truth is I now don't know where in the house it is, could be in my bag could  be out in the kitchen or up in the bedroom and I care not a jot. Just have to set the alarm for morning though and then it'll start. booo

Yes, I can live without one. Having one makes life a bit easier, but it really doesn't affect me. As I said on another thread, I only check mine once a day at the most to see if someone has left me a message or text.

It's useful having one because I can call someone when I'm out without having to find a phone box or the right change. I also like mine because I can read books on it and play games, which is a good way to occupy myself when I'm travelling. Apart from that, I'm really not bothered.

Baz.....don't get me started on texting..

I actually find texting much more *liberating* Syd cos I can answer when I want....plus my texts are free as part of my PAYG package.... but I don't do text speak.... it all gets written in longhand

No.  When you were meeting some one you had to be there on time.  Not that people weren't late before mobile phones, but at least when they turned up looked as if they made an effort to hurry, instead of turning up all calm because they took their time owing to the fact that they sent you a text explaining they'd be late

Yep I could live without mine.  I love texting and it's an easy way to see who's doing what at the weekends but then again facebook is just as handy.  I haven't topped up in a few weeks because I simply couldn't be arsed and I haven't lifted my mobile in days.

It's handy though for the school updates, they text with things like reminders for milk money and if your kid is sick they'll text you if they cant reach you on the landline.

Looking at the top of the head across the dinner table at someone looking down with fingers flicking......

Very handy though, I had checked my kids primary school website yesterday to see when they were back at school because my sons were telling me different days.  The website said Wednesday but then today we got a text to say all kids start back tomorrow   I was glad of that text otherwise it would be one more day of pulling my hair out!

We had got a note out before easter but I lost it
