Did you see the end where Paris spoke about her daddy? Frowner

Mine too. I thought I was doing well up until then. Seeing the wee one in the background crying too Frowner

I bet they were happy inside though seeing all those people paying tribute to their dad. Puts all the bad press into the background for a short time

I was surprised she wasn't there. Maybe she wanted to grieve in private. No David Gest, no Liza Minelli, no Elizabeth Taylor.

I can understand Liz Taylor not being there, she's wheelchair bound now, she released a statement though....maybe she was at the Private Service! Nod

At last, those of us who wanted to express our grief openly were allowed to do it in this thread, without fear of being ridiculed and taunted! Thanks PCE for taking the initiative with the spirit of courage Clapping Hug and a mahoosive thanks to Dave GaGa for assuring his protection of the thread. Clapping I'm STILL choked with this beautiful tribute, NEVER to be forgotten.

I think so too. Today, I think was more for the public; there'll be times and places for those closer to MJ to pay their respects, I'm sure.
Nonetheless, the fact that Berry, Smokie & Stevie made appearances added the gravitas needed - and support to the Jackson family.

I admit I wobbled when Stevie started the intro to "I never dreamed you'd leave in Summer". And then, when Jermaine sang (with his beautiful clear diction)....well, that was it for me.

I hope those of you who are feeling deeply affected by recent events managed to find some comfort from today's service. xxx

Sorry to be so long in posting. Been tied up with BB.
I watched it all by myself and was in tears. It was so beautiful and moving. I kept texting my daughter, as she wasnt at home to watch most of it. I loved all the tributes including the political speeches. Stevie Wonder was amazing. Just feel so sad Michael had to go just before his great come back. So tragic and still think it suss the way he died.
Poor little Paris, she seemed to hold up really well, as did Prince but he comforted her on stage so touching.
Can't begin to know how they must feel. The world has lost a unique talent - there'll never be another. Crying

HugI agree with you, it was a beautiful tribute... May God be with his kids and family.....

It was beautifully done & parts of it were very poignant...especially when you consider they had so little time to organise it.

But, hand on heart. I have to say that putting those grieving children on public display like that was (for me) just one step too far. To watch that little girl sobbing her heart out like that was raw Frowner

I'm sure the Kids had a choice whether to be there or not?!!! Paris seemed to cling to Janet, and I'm sure Janet and the Family wouldn't have let them go if they didn't think they were up to it!!!!!

I think it may offer them some comfort to know that their Father was adored by so many! Nod

Hi PCE Hug have just seen this thread as I couldn't post till now. I thought the Memorial was beautiful, dignified and very moving when hearing the wonderful tributes and memories from those who knew him and his family so well.

Although I've not shed any tears for several days when listening to certain songs I had a real release of them when they played You Are Not Alone as there are reasons why that song has always been personal for me. I was also very moved when Jermaine sang Smile, another of MJ's songs I've been playing and loved. I felt a lot of empathy for the family and children who are naturally still grieving so much for Michael.

It was a memorable Memorial and a fitting tribute to a loving family member, and to an incredible entertainer who's music has given me many years of pleasure as it also has to so many around the world. Love and God Bless to Michael and his family. Thank you Michael.

Yes. you're probably right. I was just expressing my own gut reaction, tbh. It really distressed me to see a grieving child sobbing under a spotlightDisappointed

It's always more gut-wrenching when you see the children. But their grief has to have an outlet and I suppose being in amongst the family is better than feeling they are not included.

It's a hard one though, I agree. One of those rock and hard place things.

In the days to come, I suspect recalling how many people showed their respect/love/admiration for their father will be a comfort to them; no different than how we feel when others show support at our own personal loss(es). Smiler

When the family were all on stage at the end it was so sad to watch and listen, but showed they're like any other family who's still grieving so much at the recent loss of a much loved family member.

I also hope the media now move on and let the family grieve in private. If they continue it for a while I hope it's for positive reasons, if it isn't I pity their consciences, but like you I won't be reading anything anyway, I prefer my own thoughts and memories. I was thinking of you when the Memorial was on and others I've come to know in a certain thread who feel as we do Valentine
