I dont think he had skin cancer he had Lupus which the sun affects the skin .

Maybe i should stop reading The Sun. It was all over the website a week or so ago that he was battling skin cancer.

I should imagine a lot longer than 2 days Nod

I love some of his stuff, and no denying his talent. But I only really liked him when he was black, had no time for him when he became white Shake Head
He had vitiligo an autoimmune condition that destroyed the melanin cells... At the time in the late 80's the only treatment option was to accelerate the process of the depigmentation...

Skin Cancer? Confused

I think even if he had a terminal illness for years on end and his death was inevitable it would still have the same reaction. Every time I here 'Michael Jackson has died' it's shocking, you expect some one like him to live forever. To know there'll be no more albums, no more fantastic videos, no more of his fantastic creativeness...that's a shocker no matter how suddenly he died.

His death is shocking to me, I saw a pic a couple of weeks ago and he looked better than ever, like how he looked in the "Bad" era...

I always thought he would be with us for a while yet.. Its sad to see him go more sad that some folks are still negative about him... Im glad that for the negative minority there is a positive majority and MJ died knowing that he was still adored by them...

Of course! Have you not noticed that when a 'NAME' dies the whole world apparently becomes their greatest fan and can't get enough of whatever it is that they're famous for. Nod Laugh

I have to say the media are really getting on my wick now....they did nothing but hound him when he was alive and now they all love him Shake Head

I have stopped watching the news Temple because its sickening..... Then we have these new crop of friends who deserted him when he needed them the most.....

Its kind of like a son getting rich and deserting his family and when they die buys them gold caskets and drapes them in the finest... You should have treated them well when they were alive...

He was completely shattered... I hope God helps console the family in this trying times... I also think they should stop all those pseudo friends from making useless comments because they deserted him when he needed them the most now they want to get their mugs on tv for some spotlight...

Yes, imo it is.

50 yrs old is no age at all, especially by todays standards.

& what amazes me is: whoever was behind this guy .... whatever were they thinking, ... going along with so many dates for his up coming tour, when it must have been clear for anyone with mere brain cell, to see, he just wasn't anywhere near fit enough to carry the whole thing off. Just goes to show what a crazy life and gathering of people he had around him Shake Head
Angel
I was surprised he had died, you don't think of a superstar dieing at 50, but i always thought over the years he wouldn't live to be very old, with him getting sick and being a superstar, all the icons that have died Marilyn Monroe, Elvis they get so big then they self distruct and die of an overdose or a heartattck from the stress of trying to stay at the top. It's so sad.

I've always thought that about him too for some reason....

And I also believe that if he had lived, he would not have been able to undertake the mammoth 50 date tour he had organised. Frowner

It just seemed to me that it was going to be too much for him to undertake given the frailty of his mind and body - or so it seemed to me.

I was never his greatest fan although I can appreciate what a great talent he was Smiler

I was really saddened to hear about his death this morning. Angel

All things being equal mebbe creatively he should have died in 1990 when all we had was the glorious creativity.

I saw him live in the 80's and leaving aside the unfortunate fact that I accidentally mooned him whilst being crowd surfed very unwell to the front it was a fantastic performance.

I cried this morning when I listened to his 5 year old self give an interview and again when I hear all those fantastic songs.

BUT...let's not eulogise the man. There were some odd events - never proven - that we must not forget either.

Creative genius yes. Flawed individual (for whatever reason) yes.

Big Grin

Weirdly, I wasn't surprised when I heard the news this morning.....I always had the feeling he wouldn't last much longer.

I didn't cry, but have felt sad and nostalgic when I heard particular songs today. Controversy aside, he contributed so much and was an incredible creative inspiration to so many.
