I have just watched Nick Ross being interviewed on the News.
Disappointingly, he pointed out that free-lancing is not particularly secure.
More disappointingly he seemed to show sympathy for "refreshing" a show, while hinting that television is a photogenic medium and fresh faces are a facet of that.
I am angry at this.
Only need to look at BBC 3 to see the sort of standards we get when young people are targetted.
I think young people deserve better.
But the worst thing about his remarks, and what seems to have been accepted knowledge at the BBC, is to keep things looking young.
Well I think that is nonsense.
Young does not equate with good all the time.
I like old too. I like experience, wisdom and wit, and mostly don't care a jot what the person looks like.
The desire of media people to concentrate on young fresh faces is pathetic and a massively wrong assumption in my view.

Countryfile is about as entertaining as watching traffic lights change
I know!!!!!

& Mr Ditty has it on Sky Planner...  & insists on it being on every Sunday night AND sometimes the late night rerun that is on midweek when we go to bed!

And I am well chuffed Miriam wotsit won her case....     they let John Craven and his vast range of nasty anoraks stay...   he must be older than Miriam is!

Ms.O'Reilly is a pleasant looking lady..
That's what I thought too, well I think she looks pretty damn good actually.

Agree about the wisdom, wit and experience too. I'd rather listen to Steven Fry or Jon Snow talk for hours than some barely legal strumpet all smiley and leggy and giddy.

Not just me then!  I can't say I've watched Countryfile recently as I find it too BluePeter-ish in its presentation, although I can understand its style for a Sunday morning.  So all I've seen of Ms. O'Reilly is from the newspapers.... and she looks very presentable;  God knows what TPB at the Beeb were thinking.

I so get the Stephen Fry thing, Karma
