Years back, I awaited with interest Paul Heaton from The Beautiful South's appearance on Question Time.  I thought, he's a bright fella, politically aware, probably gonna come at this from a lefty angle and liable to throw a curve ball that will make me think (being one of them there muso types who are generally a bit...erm...well, creative) God! He was SHITE.  He looked uncomfortable, had nowt much to say, looked like he wanted to run away for most of it. I dunno why he did it, they are notorious for only doing what they please and never chasing the money/exposure.

Oliver-lass...well, I don't even trust her judgement in boozing pals and she seems mostly one of those "Camden think we're cool kids" so...I can't say I'm filled with hope.

I agree, but alternately Billy Bragg has guested on quite a few "Question Time"s but has been articulate and presented a few 'curve balls' and very valid points.

I was impressed with Marcus Brigstocke a few weeks back, but as  comedian I guess he doesn't count.  I've never seen Billy Bragg on there...I dip in and out.  When I can get control of the remote, mostly.  It's hard to argue with a man with a Fringe/CSI/geek-cult-American-telly obsession

Billy Bragg is my hero.  To be fair though he's a bone fide politcal activist and he's even written bookson the subject. He probably knows and understands more about left wing politics than anyone in the cabinet.


I don't know who that Miquita person is. I saw her on This Week earlier and complete agree with the OP. Why was she invited on and why did she accept if she had nothing to say?

Yeah, I wish I'd seen him on there now, I know he's a massive campaigner and activist.  I know what angle he comes from and I think I'd possibly/probably agree with him on a lot of stuff. 

She like a "cooler" version of someone like Cat Deely?  Neneh Cherry is her Auntie (or summat, I saw something on a cookery show once )

She used to present a few pop shows and ch4 shows.  Hangs out with Amy Winehouse and lots of indie boys in skinny jeans and shoes that are too pointy and they are all achingly hip and too cool for school*

*You know those kids that make you feel old and annoyed coz they think they diocovered punk or summat?  Actually, just think that annoying bird from BB who got kicked out, the one who "discovered indie"

Oh yes he does. I saw him too, he was excellent. I don't see why these shows should only have politicians on their panels - sometimes an intelligent, articulate lay-person is perfect for puncturing a few of their egos.

There have been some beauts over the years. People who you would think would be great. Jarvis Cocker comes to mind, but the worst one was that bloke who thought that he was Bobby Charlton in the Film Kes.
