Probably turned it on herself to have a play on it. 4 year olds get in about everything. Sadly this time it was fatal

Why allow a child to play in a room with adult equipment is beyond me but there you go.

I don't suppose something like this will ever make sense to anyone involved, but I do wish the family well during this time.

You know, I hate it when something like this happens and almost immediately people start pointing the finger, even if in a subtle way.
There should be no outcry of 'what was a four year old doing near a treadmill' - it is a freak accident, and sadly they happen to anyone.
Our homes are the most dangerous of places for children, some things we can make safe, we can take steps to ensure safety and limit the dangers. Other things, we cannot be so secure over.
Children have been killed with tv's falling on them, domestic appliances, kettles, baths etc etc - they are dreadful accidents that no loving parent wants to go through.

There should be no outcry of 'what was a four year old doing near a treadmill' - it is a freak accident, and sadly they happen to anyone.

We could lock every door in our houses to prevent children getting to dangers. The cooker, the bath, every socket, sharp things, stairs, pets, even thier own beds etc but it doesn't stop accidents happening. You have to show a bit of trust and not make your child feel like they are living in fear. Kids know how to plug things in. They know how to switch things on. This was an unfortunate accident. One of mine fell down the stairs and put her tooth right through her lip, broke her arm and could have died. Why? Because at 6 years old I didn't think the combination of my high heel shoes in my wardrobe and no stair gate were a problem. Now I know differently.

Firstly I said "let's not start baying for blood" - Therefore, your angry response was a little uncalled for. If I suggest something doesn't start, then I am hardly suggesting we're in the throes of something already.
It's easy to judge, I just felt it inappropriate to do so.
Accidents happen. I was stood right in front of my 2 year old sister who was looking out of our bedroom window. The window was shut or so we thought because as she leaned against it, it flew open and she fell onto the concrete Luckily after major brain surgery she made a full recovery. Glad she's better now...how old id she now if you don't mind me asking?You just reminded me of an occurring nightmare..which I haven't had for a couple of months now.
