who?
The lad who was jailed for attempted murder in Bulgaria 4 years ago...someone else came forward and admitted it then changed their mind!!!
He got transferred to serve his sentence (10 years) in England, now, new evidence has come to light and he has been granted a pardon...excellent news...though no-one can give him 4 years back...

Well considering that probably half those in jail are innocent and of course that means that half of those walking round free are really guilty.

That was totally unnecessary. VERY bad taste. I do however appreciate that you are probably trying (unsuccessfully) to be sarcastic!!!

Well, I got it
I see the vulgarian Bulgarians are spitting feathers about it.
boo hoo hoo
Maye they should have focused on jailing the right person at the time then, instead of thinking just any old Brit would do.

Phew.
I heard the Bulgarian MEP bloke on R4 yesterday. He's really very unhappy about it, banging on about two witnesses and stuff. I can't really imagine what it must have been like for Shields, knowing he's innocent and banged up for attempted murder. The rage and the depression and the sense of injustice you must feel in that situation.
When I was listening to the Bulgarian, I was reminded about the al Megrahi case. I'm quite suspicious about that conviction now after reading some more about it. At least in that case, there's the likelihood that he was guilty of other dubious things given his role for the Libyan state even if he wasn't for the bombing.
