Anyone can fall in love
That's the easy part you must keep it going
Anyone can fall in love
Over the years it has to keep growing
Sun and rain
Joy and pain
There's highs - there's lows
We've no way of knowing.

Anyone can fall in love
That's not hard to do it isn't so clever
Anyone can fall in love
But you must make the love last forever...
Who can say
Love will stay?
It's up to you
Don't hide what needs showing.

Anyone can fall in love
That's the easy part you must keep it going
Everyone can fall in love
But you must make the love last forever more

How do you keep the music from dying?
Love falls asleep unless you keep trying

Anyone can fall in love
Life's more than that, it's pulling together
Everyone can share the love
Where we come from friends never say never
side by side
satisfied
To stay right here in one square forever.

Anyone can fall in love
That's not hard to do it isn't so clever
Anyone can fall in love
But you must make the love last forever more

So Gel...  are you gonna foster GSD No. 4 then?

Seriously Ditty, we don't know where the bloke lives, and Clive hasn't seen him on the field since, however, should he bump into him again and he's still looking, we may consider it
I really wouldn't have the heart to say no if it means his operation has to be postponed, but perhaps he's already been in touch with dogs trust

ahhhhh!  I see, one of those!  (this kind of thing happens to me too!)

Do you not have any dog fostering schemes in your neck of the woods?   We have one here specifically for dogs needing to be fostered because of domestic abuse issues (i.e. the woman is going into a shelter.. no pets allowed... some women feared for their dogs lives and wouldn't go into shelters cos of it)...  its a cross county fostering agreement... so there is no danger of the dog being recognised by the other partner.

I dunno if there are any schemes for people needing to go into hospital.  Mind you... we don't even have a dogs trust in our area!

not something I've ever had to look for though.
I would have thought that the hospital would have come up against something like this before and would perhaps have details... or, Dogs Trust.

And the fact that the dog came from Dogs Trust.... I am fairly sure that they ask if you can no longer keep the dog that you return it to them rather than rehoming it yourself.

the poor gsd tho, not a spring chicken by all accounts at age 11
ooooh!  bless!

We lost one of the GSD's on our dog walking circuit a couple of weeks ago (though I only found out this week)...     And it was a "not bloody fair" moment.   The GSD was called Ben. He had a horrendous first year of life... badly abused, cigarettes stubbed out on him, beatings, the lot.   My friend is the domestic violence police officer and came across him through her work and took him in.

Over the years we've watched her nurse him back to being a fantastic dog...  they were just starting to win the battle with mange (I had never realised what a nightmare it is to sort out)...

He was sooo happy....   when he saw us he would spin round and round in happiness...  my friend would have to hold the lead with both hands

Then last year his back legs started to go... he was only 6!   bit by bit he worsened... a degenerative disease of the central nervous system.    They got him bespoke wheels in the end so he could still have walks... and took in another stray, a jack russell bitch, so he had company in the house.

Unfortunately they lost him a few weeks ago.   How bloody unfair is that?  He had a shit life to start with, and despite this he still loved & trusted people... only to be struck down when he was just getting back to full health!

S'not fair

I'd love to get hold of the abusers of animals and do the bloody same to them
Yep!   Its a mentality I just cannot comprehend...

but on the bright side there are people like you and my police officer friend who take them in and nurture them...

one day, when AJ is older & more tolerant I would love to give something back to dogs...  I would like to take in older dogs who had lost their owners, and give them a good quality of life in their golden years.   I've thought about it a lot...  I think I would have to have AJ, or a younger dog also, so that I could cope with getting dogs that I know would not be with me for long.

Tis in my "mad dog woman of the village" old age plan!
