I am not sure I can discern the difference between the 'sibling parent' thing and just being a decent parent, flexible where necessary, listening when required, fingers in ears going lalalala also when required and generally making sure you understand each other, set the obvious boundaries but also accept others might need a degree of leeway at times.. and mostly not just being a git coz you are bigger and older

I could have done with C&Ping that post into a few other threads a few days ago Zaph.
good post Zaph and definately how I see things
when my Lad turned 18 he asked if any *rules* could be dropped - NO I said not while you live in this house I am talking about basics here - what time will you be in ?? let me know if there are extras sleeping or eating etc the following weekend MrH and I went out and were back later than he thought we would have been - he said now I am an adult can you please let me know if you are going to be late as I was sat here worrying - point taken and we now have a whiteboard as well as phone and text so we ALL know what is what and where

Evening everyone.
As much as I disliked John Jame's behaviour in the house, I have said all along he is a deeply troubled soul.
I actually do feel sorry for him and hope he can get himself sorted . But I have to say... winning would have done him no favours.

I got the last 2 tubs of Phish food... as I drove up the Tesco drive there was a big banner up. "Half Price Ben & Jerry's" ... I thought 'oh shit, if they are promo'ing it that much I could be too late!'...then I got in there.. steamed straight up to the Ben & Jerry cabinet (no need for even a basket... I was a woman on a focused mission).. and one cabinet was full of em... one had just two tubs of Phish food.... and a load of Macadamia Nut stuff...
the boy had asked for the choc fudge brownie flavour.. so I grabbed him one of them... and a Phish food from the full cabinet, and turned round... LUCKILY I then glanced again at the tubs... and realised I had picked up FROZEN YOGHURT!!
I quickly threw them, with the disgust they deserved back into the cabinet & grabbed the 2 Phish Food (the boy had that as his second choice)... as I proudly skipped to the checkout I heard a girl wailing behind me.. "nooooo... they have run out of Phish food" and then continue to snottily explain to her boyfriend that Phish Food Frozen Yoghurt was not "near enough"...
I skipped a lot faster to the checkout then!

Evening Issy.
How's the quack everyone?
Amazing, it's so boring in the house now.

Ok .. Sorry but this has gone on long enough!
I have established the there is something particular about a certain flavour (or flavours) but what elevates simple Ice Cream to Phish food? huh? huh?

I just like plain old boring vanilla.

You haven't tried it??? Phish Food is very very very special chocolate ice cream with little whole chocolate fish in it. I think there may be some marshmallow stuff in there somewhere too?? BUT THERE ARE DEFINITELY CHOCOLATE FISH!
Phish foooooooooooooooood!

I was a vanilla girl till my sis forced Phish Food into my life.
Ah .. I see... *takes a few careful steps backwards, nervously looking over his shoulder..*

well.... to answer that question correctly I need to get my tub out... *goes & gets beloved tub of Phish Food*
its a very very yummy choc ice cream.... with big ripples of marshmallow & caramel through it... and then every other spoonful is a little fishy made of solid chocolate!
Even the boy is converted... he thought he like the choc brownie one (cos his sister says its best)... but now he has seen the error of his ways!
God its good!

I like that description!
Okay... I'll just put the gun down and back out carefully.....

i have wrestled it off myself and put it back in the freezer... with "MUM" written all over the lid (cos the boy has eaten more of his than I have)
it is very very special Z... you should try it some time (you can get little starter pots for a quid)...
problem is... full price is ÂĢ4.. and as special as it is, I bloody resent paying that for it (especially as sharing one is not an option.... so I have to buy me and the kids one each... meaning its a ÂĢ12 ice cream hit)...
but at ÂĢ2 a tub... its perfect!

This is the bit where all this 'sibling mum' bit goes to pot

hell yeah!there are no exceptions to the 'that is MY Phish Food rule'
(apart from the one that says if I finish my pot first.. and theirs is in the freezer... I can, as their life-giver, take the odd sneaky spoonful out of it.... spooned straight from the pot whilst still in freezer... )
I don't think "I was my womb so it is my ice cream" is actually a valid defence

I will never look at them in the same way again!

I challenge you to think of a more valid defence!
I don't have to worry about people nicking my Phish Food. Duds likes it, but will always choose to buy his favourite pizza over ice cream any day.
I get Phish Food....he gets Pizza..... he knows if he touches the Phish Food I touch the Pizza.

How about.. "I'll just stick to the vanilla because you clearly have ice cream relate issues that needs professional help.. and please put that knife down because ice cream only really needs a spoon"or summat like that
Z.
I'd never get away with a pizza/Phish Food pay off!
my boy would eat the pizza and then nag for my ice cream!
Hubby hasn't tried it (I tell him its veery veeeeery bad for diabetics).. so he is unaware of how precious it is!
Z - that is Phish Food virgin talk!
