For me, if its out of a dainty looking bottle than its no bother, if its out of a pint glass

Rawky if you were up north you'd get used to it

I can't imagine myself 'up north'. Ladies drinking pints! gravy on chips! its just madness up there I tell ya!

Port is lovely Pam

With a nice bit of stilton...

When having a plate of cheese and bics 9not often these days because of my diet) a glass of port is absolutelt essential ..............one of lifes pleasures IMO.

Oh as for men drinking wine - don't have an issue with it. If I was out to dinner in a 3 star and my date ordered a stella I'd probably pour it over his head. On the flip side if we were out on a jolly night then lager's fine.

Saying that though, lager seems to do summat weird to men  and they suddenly develop at-the-loo-every-5-minutes-for-a-slash syndrome as well as act differently as to when they drink wine?

Cariad women who drink beer are fine with me as long as they also support Chelsea!

Rawky: Southern Comfort is a big no-no, real men drink Tequila Slammers in great number and rarely live to tell the tale.

What's that drink (spirit) that you set fire to before you drink it? They're lethal as well (well, after about 6 or 7) - same with the slammers.

Reading this I think my problem might have been moderation? As in not enough of it? (just a wild guess)

Slammers are liquid Satan. Every time I've had them I've sworn 'never again' but always joined in when someone was stupid enough to suggest it. Completely floored every time

Moderation sort of goes out the window after the first four

Who is Chelsea and why does she need supporting?

Is she on triples too?

I'd rather a lovely beer than a lager tbh ... so many lagers are gassy and tasteless imo.

I can never taste the difference between beer and lager. I'm not too great on alcohol, I can just about tell the difference between red and white wine and that's only cos of the colour

They are assuming that all wine tastes the same.

Some inverted snobs say they don't like champagne, not realising that there is a vast array of different champagnes.

I have been "training up" a work colleague/friend for the last couple of years. She started out just liking really sweet white wine (Liebfraumilch/Lambrusco) - we're now onto dry whites and hopefully we'll move onto reds within the next 12 months.  She'll always be a cider girl though really...

Oh I am partial to a cider too Didn't used to be really, developed a taste for it recently

I can't imagine you up north either Rawky  You'd be gobsmacked in Wetherspoons, and I avoid gravy and chips, but I love a pint of lager

Most of my mates drink beer and have persuaded me to try various types over the years. They're okay I just never got a taste for it. Most lager is pretty horrible, granted. I'm trying to remember the name of a wheat beer I really like that you hardly ever see served on draft... it might come to me. Ah wait... Hoegarden. I'd drink that over lager every time if I had a choice.
