Dear Summer,  I was SO pleased to read the news about your new arrival.  You have been very patient in waiting for the right puppy to come along and I'm sure you will all be very happy together.

Bramble (love the name) is very lucky to have been chosen to become part of your family and I'm sure she will bring great pleasure into your lives.

Will you be able to take Bramble to work or will she be a stay at home dog?  I look forward to being updated with her progress over the coming weeks and months.  I'm pleased you had a good first night.  Let's hope that continues for a very long time.   for you and special  for Bramble.

She only whined 3 times in the night, and for only 2-3 mins I think we did good

She's done amazingly!!!!    well done lil Bramble!!!

We got lucky with the toilet training with AJ too..    he was paper trained when we got him and only ever had one accident when he got all disorientated & couldn't work out which way his paper was.

He'd always gone for wee's & poo's on his paper in the dining room during the night though.    Can't beleive lil Brambles managed to go the whole night!!!

Thank you everyone She's very affectionate! She's not interested in treats, she likes lots of praise and affection I upset her earlier whilst attempting to try her in the crate- she went in fine, settled in it fine, so I shut the door and she whined like crazy I rang my friend who's brilliant with dogs- I praised her when she didn't whine (gotta be quick with that) and got her calm enough to open the door. She then took the huff and wouldn't come out. So I played with her squeaky toy, as if I was playing with another dog, and she soon climbed out and was playing within moments! Phew! I think I pushed her too much too soon. I just hope she goes to bed in the crate alright tonight Get this though: she runs to the door when she needs the loo!!!! We've only had her 36 hours. I haven't had any indoor accidents since 11am she's been amazing. She's an intelligent one

You gonna take her to puppy school summer?

I would strongly recommend it...  if so, you'd best get her name down now.... she won't be ready to go for months & months.     They normally run one evening a week for about 8 weeks.

They're great...  they are really about training us to train the pup rather than the other way round.   but are great for socialising your dog.

We learned loads by taking AJ to puppy school.  He was great in a village hall...  and in theory he totally gets recall...   he just chooses to ignore it outside of a village hall setting (but that is terriers for you...  to damned smart for their own good sometimes )

I remember two weeks after I had Milo (he would have been 10 weeks old) I was cuddling him on the sofa hoping he'd go to sleep as I'd not had much sleep since his arrival.  I woke an hour later with my earring pulled out of my ear and chewed to bits (though thankfully not swallowed) and my zip to my fleece chewed as well.

I also found that puppies are just like children - if it's on the floor, it's in their mouth    But I loved him to bits from day one and anytime I tell him off for doing something norty, he goes into default mode which is to lie on his back and present his very sechsy belly for a tummy tickle   it works every time

I think most of these laws came from cats.

Sorry I haven't been in for a while, I'm not sure what day it is, where I am, who I've emailed... Thanks for all your messages, I will try to get some more pics uploaded tomorrow- we have loads! And videos too Miss Bramble has really come out of her shell, tonight she circled the living room like a nutter! She also looks like she's filled out a bit. Toilet training is going very well indeed, it's not perfect but she's learning fast.. Treats, well.. Nope! Ever heard of a puppy who turns her nose up at treats? she's far more responsive to praise & affection.

I'm supposed to give Kenji a pill every day, and I bought these special treats that have a hole in them for the treat. He can tell there's a pill in them, and won't eat it that way. I have to cram the pill down his throat and THEN give him the pill-free treat.

hahahahaha...

This is why I love those meaty treats...    he wolfs them down..   He has to take three pills every morning..   and he knows they are in there but doesn't care...  he loves da meaty treats too much!

(prior to that it was a nightmare...   he'd eat the bit of cheese/meat/ham and then spit out the pill)

oh no that's a chore and a half what's the pill for? Bramble is a cry baby, well, more like a she-wolf! I apologised to my neighbour who graciously said she hasn't heard a thing, but I'll be surprised if you didn't hear her in Seattle! She only howled 30 secs last night but the night before was 100 mins solid, then I was wide awake til 4am and had to be up at 6

poor baby!! poor Sweet!

Don't laugh: the pill is Prozac.  Kenji decided in the last year that he no longer likes small children, and the doc thinks he has an anxiety disorder. Not sure if this is helping or not....
