I've just seen an advert for ambulance chasers True.com an injury compensation claim firm.

They claim to win more than 9 out of 10 claims.

So is that 10 out of 10 claims won (if so, why not say that) or do they just win 'bits' of claims? So that might be 9.4 out of 10.

My maths is shocking so someone like Eugene may be able to explain it

because if they won 199 cases out of 200, on average it would be over 9/10 and under 10/10
