Ya see I don't think the 2 activities are mutually exclusive.
I don't see it as an "either / or" situation.
Sex with a partner is not the same as sex with self.
They are 2 different things.
I think anyone who wants somebody to stop masturbating because they are offended, has a bit of gall.
My researches tell me this is not an uncommon grievance.

I used to have a teddy bear when I was about 3 and one day my dad found me beside one of his bookcases. I went into floods of tears (embarrassed and guilty), he told me it was ok, but try not to make it too much of a habit because you might find somebody when you are older. He was born in 1884 and this occurred in 1955 - 56. He was ahead of his time and I never felt guilty about the DIY.

IME, women often don't appreciate how the male libido works.
(This is also true the other way around, of course, but in our society the emphasis tends to be on how men don't understand women.)

I was made very aware of this during BB10. As I'm sure you remember, there was a lot of comment surrounding Marcus's "Graveyard Shifts". He got a lot of criticism for these, but it was clear from his own comments in the house that (a) he was petrified of having a "wet dream"; and (b) he felt rather uncomfortable about other HMs dealing with this problem in a more "public" manner (in particular he was critical of Rodrigo, who was a much more frequent masturbator than Marcus, and often did it in bed while other HMs were sleeping next to him!)

What I wasn't prepared for, though, was the surprise of female HMs when Marcus explained his reasons. A frequent comment was "Are wet dreams really still a problem at your age?" They simply didn't understand that he was an adult male put into a situation where he couldn't be sexually active, and therefore required some biological "release". This was also true of all the other male HMs (it's just that they didn't speak about it), and it would have affected any male HM, regardless of age.

I find it must be problematic for young lads entering puberty,us females are made aware of the changes we'll face ,periods and bodily changes and generally it's more openly discussed....Lads also experience *changes*,bodily changes and off course the masturbation/wet dreams,I don't feel this is so opening discussed/accepted and all too often is labelled wrongly as smut/dirty among other things.IMO it's best to view it as we view a girl starting her period, they're growing up it's perfectly normal.

Eugene, I don't want to be too controversial, but most men really have no clue. Women in the last few centuaries have been bucking up the males, no matter how many times we've reared up against the system, it still seems to be men ok, women, meh. Enough already. Marcus fancied the Irish girl (whose name escapes me), she didn't go along with it, so he had to relieve himself. Nothing really wrong with that persee, but it's carp on all sides.

Oh, I've no doubt that's true!

I just found it interesting that all the girl HMs (not just Noirin) didn't seem to be aware that "wet dreams" aren't just a concern for teenagers, but can affect any male.
I think it's pretty safe to say that all male HMs (except possibly those who were evicted before it became an issue) masturbated in the BB house, and some did it a lot more frequently than Marcus!

I'm female and have some of the most erotic dreams ever, I've slept with most of Hollywood and the British chart singers including George Michael....
