Thanks Baz

Downing Street has now said that Wallace's comments yesterday were "inappropriate and misogynistic".

No 10 has also confirmed Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy held talks with BBC bosses in the wake of the row about his behaviour.

Asked whether MasterChef should be taken off air, the prime minister's official spokesperson said: "It's right that a thorough investigation is conducted. Obviously that's for the BBC and the production company."

She should also pay attention to programming - it's pathetic.

The BBC has confirmed it will go ahead with the broadcast of the current series of MasterChef.

β€œMasterChef is life-changing for the chefs that take part and the show is about more than one individual," a BBC spokesman said on Monday afternoon.

The  BBC has now removed the two festive MasterChef specials from their schedules.

Not surprising as they are very different from MasterChef: The Professionals and are hardly "life-changing for the chefs"

Regarding the next series of MasterChef which would be due to be shown next spring and be made around now, it is quite possible that for that series, someone who step in to host that with John Torode. At present it seems that it would be John's wife Lisa Faulkner - they have made "John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen" for ITV for some years.
