Yes, the invention test is based on rice and the chefs will need to elevate rice so that is at the forefront of the dish. Two of the six chefs from Tuesday and Wednesday go out.
The other four get to cook their own 2 course meal for the critics (William Sitwell, Grace Dent and Jimi Famurewa) and the judges. One of the four goes out to leave three to go forward to knockout week.

Yes, he did. He resigned from the Waitrose Food magazine as editor because of his email comments, then aplogised for those comments. Since then he became the Telegraph's restaurant critic. His first review for the Telegraph was of a vegan restaurant. He's also met the woman he had sent the email.
