I stumbled across a series on Iplayer yesterday .....called Chef's Protege .....( taking young catering students and picking one for an apprenticeship ) . One on the three chefs judging/competing .... is Michel Roux jr . Listening to him and seeing how  fair and professional he is .....with none of OTT attitude of Torode and Wallace .....made me realise just how far down the slippery slope MC has gone since he left

Usually any game or competition has a set of clearly defined rules. MC does not seem to have any that I can see. I do wonder why I should be bothered about the outcome.

I do love the programmes but have always been a bit cynical about cooking competitions of all sorts .....cos while we can see what something looks like , we obviously have to rely on the judges for what it tastes like .....and my cynicism gets heightened when Torode and Wallace  totally discount  how contestants have done in the pro kitchens ...etc. .....and even , in some instances , what the critics say .
