I think you are right in saying he is jealous of Siavash...probably. But, I don't think Marcus is wrong when he says Siavash would be at the top of the hill before the flood comes.
Siavash always does things and then moves away from the situation he's caused leaving others to take the rap.
Why chat to him have a laugh, and support the things Siavash does?
I think it's because Marcus approves of Siavash's rebellious side, he likes the breaking of rules etc.
But, when it comes down to the after affects though that's where Siavash let's him down because rather than take responsiblity for his actions he fads into the background whereas Marcus would face it head on. That's what I think anyway.
