I think he is very seedy to say the least, all the girls at different times have mentioned they don't like the way he speaks about women, Noirin knows what he is like but she still chooses to hang around him as it suits her gameplan

Until she stops giving cuddles back, taking her bra strap off to paint the pictures, asking him to come with her next door to discuss things, I'll find her suspect. When she stops doing that and other things, I'll believe her.

He's very self-aware. He said he is enjoying the friendship with Noirin because something like this wouldn't happen in real life and it helps to pass the time in the house. Noirin is the user here, she's using Marcus to get air time and Marcus knows this and is happy to go along with it.

I agree. The guy is totally selfish and is only thinking about himself and how he can get into Noirins pants. If he had any decency at all he would respect her wishes when she tells him over and over she does not want to be romantically linked.
The problem is there is no escape for Noirin anywhere in that damn house. You cant even escape into a book, radio etc.

He is a carpenter/glazier by trade so I would think most of his fellow workmates are men.
Although I work with all men in a male dominated environment and none of the guys act like Marcus. Only thing I have to contend with is the frequent "rearranging" and itches which must be scratched.

Do you not think that it would help if Noirin stopped letting him touch her? Perhaps if Noirin was to stop teasing him and giving him false signals, the poor guy might actually get the hint.

That's not being a pervert, that's pretty normal to me in an unrequited love situation. And she, in general, in not exactly discouraging it. If she was 6, then thats pervy, or if she was a sheep or something.
I'm still thinking he's not taking it seriously. I think he IS self aware - he doesn't in a million yers think there's going to a relationship between them - but he's taking what he can get from the 'relationship' that's going on in the house. He enjoys her company, he finds her attractive and likes being with her. As for beinga 'sex pest' - I'm sure Noirin is more than capable of getting the message across IF SHE WANTED TO. She obviously doesn't feel threatened by him and actively seeks out his company - mixed messages doesn't come close. If she really didn't want him hanging around her, she'd make her feeling crystal clear - she's no shrinking voilet.
He knows she only wants him as a friend but like many people who want more from someone else he lives in hope.
