I was watching the show last night (not sure if it was HL or live feed), in any event I was really disappointed in Sophie. She belched in front of Rodrigo (no it wasn't his turn lol) but then carried on as normal. Not a pardon me or an excuse me anywhere.

Bless him, my son who is five shouts pardon me if he pumps in bed and I'm not even in the room! I'm sure it's not just Sophie that's not exercising good manners but it really bugs me when people can't even say please, thank you, excuse me, pardon me etc etc.

Glad that's off my chest cos it's been bugging me since last night. Disappointed

I agree with you, it's so easy to be polite and have good manners... Nod

I once knew a woman, the mother of a friend, who was very up on her etiquette. If anybody farted, or burped, or even sneezed or coughed, her face would turn red and she would glare. She had a deep problem with natural bodily functions. It was ridiculous, and weird.

The way I see it, burping and farting in no more alien than breathing. We can’t help it, it is meant to happen, it HAS to happen, and holding such things in is anything but healthy.

Good on Sophie.

Personally I just pass round the gas masks!

On a serious note, I think Sophie must have some food intolerance or something with that level of windyness. She is always complaining of being fat , but it looks far more like bloating to me. She is a human gas tank!

Well I've just finished watching last nights l/f, she was sat with Siavash and she said, "ooh I've just farted, can you smell it yet?" too which he said "no," she replied "you soon will do, it smells like eggs." Sick
She's got a potty mouth and a vulgar manner, suppose some would say she's keeping it real. Roll Eyes

Have you never talked about your farts to your good friends?

It's not the point of her pumping/burping, it's the fact that she doesn't excuse herself afterwards. I guess it's all down to upbringing. Smiler

Maybe. Sophie is a lovely girl though, so her upbringing must have been a decent one. Unlike Noirin and Karly, Sophie doesn't act at all like a pretentious princess.

You have a point CS...but we laydeez are taught our manners from an early age Nod

It's probably the change in diet i.e lots of lentils and chickpeas that's causing her to be so windy but you're right she has really bad manners.

I agree it's a natural bodily function but it doesn't cost anything to say excuse me when you let one rip Smiler

I also think all their eating habits leave a lot to be desired i.e smacking lips and leaving their mouth open when their eating or speaking with their mouth full Sick sorry but it's bad pareting in the first place Nod because if you're taught it from a very young age, it becomes a natural process.

I've eased up on the kids putting their elbows on the dinner table Devil

To mathematics and cold sweat - I'm not trying to be nasty about Sophie. In fact, I don't have a problem with her as a person. I'm not one to pull anyone up on their appearance or anything like that. My original post said that it probably wasn't just her but that I'd noticed it last night and it wasn't for the first time either.

I just think that manners maketh the man (or woman in this case). And a little pardon me / excuse me goes a long way. Nod

I saw that too Towno, and had the same reaction as you did. I wonder what her parents thought if they were watching? i know, if she was mine, I would be cringing Frowner

It just strikes me that Sophie is an easy choice to judge more harshly than others – and without perhaps even weighing up the merits or faults of others before making such a selection. For instance, David assumed the role of most judgemental housemate for the talent contest yesterday, and decided that Sophie was the least entertaining housemate.

However, those that piece together the show decided her performance was worth showing ahead of others, The Sun newspaper decided that it was worth a feature, and I have seen it discussed throughout the day on BB forums, more so than the other performances that were shown last night.

BTW Did you feel the same way when we saw Marcus clipping his toenails on the communal living room table a couple of weeks ago?

Sophie would be no good as a teacher of etiquette.
I agree about her poor manners
Hygiene is poor in the house generally. The behaviour in the kitchen is appalling.
I noticed last night, apart from wind gusting in several directions, that Sophie was sat on top of the table which contained food and doing her hair fondling.
Maybe a lot of it is thoughtlessness, but hygiene and good manners should not have to be dredged up from ones memory - they should be ingrained and automatic.

I think she's vile.

She farts like a trooper and never apologises for it and eats like a pig at a trough, she makes me heave

David's decision to choose Sophie as least talented was a personal choice. We didn't get to see all of the performances anyway so can't really comment on them. No doubt they had to show us that performance as it was going to be chosen later on as the least entertaining. Similarly, had Hira not won I doubt very much her performance would have been shown.

I didn't see Marcus clipping his nails on the communal dining table - that's rank Sick

And the only reason that Sophie is being singled out here is for her blatant lack of manners and nothing else. I do love the way that you will defend Sophie and champion her as a housemate. I often read your threads about it. It's nice! On this occasion though, there isn't any excuse. I'm sorry, but we won't agree on this point. It's not like I'm trying to damn the lass all I was saying is that she shouldn't be so rude.

No hard feelings though Present Valentine

Sick Yuk.... well I certainly did, but to me that was more a case of being purely disgusting, and way beyond bad manners .
