Updated figures are 22 dead and 59 injured, and the fatalities include children.
I was watching this 'live' last night, but couldn't bring myself to post at the time. Still feel pretty numb about it - may post more later when I'm less likely to say something I might regret afterwards...
I heard about this late yesterday. I'm so sorry...
Awwww, they are so cute!!
It's all so pointless and tragic. Those poor young victims and their families.

Ditto Eugene ....so very, very very sad
Many of you have probably already seen this (it's trending at #2 on YouTube at the moment), but it's still worth a little reminder...
Thanks for sharing that, Eugene.
It's heartbreaking

It was Martyn Hett, who had the Deirdre from Corrie tattoo on his leg.
His partner is Russell Hayward.

I see that 8 people are still missing.
How awful for their families...
Here's a rather special video clip. The music is Arvo Part's Spiegel im Spiegel. Don't be surprised if you find yourself quite emotional even though nothing happens. It was posted a few days ago and is not related to what's happened but I'm posting it as a memoriam and my late grandparents lived near Manchester.
Today at work we received an e-mail urging us all to be extra vigilant over the heightened terrorist threat and giving some guidelines as to what to be wary off and how to report any suspicions we may have!
There are no words.....just so sad

It really is, Lori.
I've just been listening to BBC News 24: apparently 64 people were admitted to hospital, and the doctors were treating many of them (including children) without knowing who they were, and were therefore unable to inform their families.
20 are still being treated for serious injuries. One extraordinary thing that came out is that many of the "walking-wounded" apparently took one look at how busy the hospitals were, decided they didn't want to use up resources and checked themselves out!
That's amazing! As long as they're OK...

Yes: if it's just cuts and bruises, you might think "fair enough", but I'd be concerned about concussion and suchlike...
Exactly! Sometimes you don't know the extent of your injuries until the next day or so.
Not a big surprise, but Ariana Grande has cancelled her London gigs due tomorrow and Friday, as well as other tour gigs up to and including June 5th. The official line doesn't go any further than that, but apparently there's still some doubt as to whether the tour will restart on the 7th.

Today at work, we got three e-mails,
The first was to remind us of the need to be vigilant.
The second was to say that NHS staff should not wear their uniforms to and from work, or keep them well covered.
The third was to say that Wishaw staff MUST NOT wear their uniforms to and from work, at all!

Flipping heck Fluffy That's scary
Jeez, EFFT: I really hope that proves to be an overreaction!
Blimey Fluffs
And, echoes Rog's comment re the lovely Velvet xx
Aye, I've always wondered....should I be wearing my lanyard out in the open, now that we're on a par with the prison service....known as HMPPS (Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service).
Although I've got no ID badge as yet due to being employed by an agency. It's only a fob to get me round the building.

They've evacuated the area.
So...I was just out running an errand, and had the radio on. The station that I listen to has a BBC News Hour every day at 1pm, and I just caught the tail end of them saying something about how Manchester Police are refusing to share information with the U.S., and how embarrassed U.S. officials are/would be about that. Any idea what that's about?
Is it our esteemed President?

Not this time: it's US government officials leaking intelligence to the press.
It actually started on the night itself: as I was watching events unfold, the BBC reported that US sources (initially US press, but later said to be US security sources) had announced that it was a suicide bomber - at that point the police here had not confirmed that. However it became a big deal when the US press published details of Salman Abedi, and the final straw was when the New York Times printed photos of bomb fragments and Abedi's backpack. The police here were furious because it was evidence and they thought announcing it publicly at this stage could jeopardise the ongoing investigation.
Well, that was quick...
Special relationship back on...
UK sharing intelligence with US again
Information sharing has resumed between the UK and US, the BBC understands.
The Home Secretary confirmed on Thursday sharing of information between security services and police would stop after the name of the Manchester bomber and photos from the crime scene had been leaked to the US press.
But now a decision has been taken to end the temporary suspension after assurances were received by counter-terrorism officers in the UK.
