Not only will they go unbeaten this season in the league but I actually think they wont lose a league game for years.

Blame Jimmy Hill for that. (He of the pointy chin with the beard). He got the authorities to get rid of the cap on players wages hence payments and values and stuff going through the roof

Edit - And we can't just blame Man City here

Man United have been doing that for years and years and years. I'm sure you were equally outraged when they did it. Arsenal have also done it in the past and my own team, Chelsea, were the first to make it fashionable for a foreign owner to come in and buy everyone in sight but yeah, blame City if you want.

Just had a thought, Who'd take up on Balotelli (sp) or Tevez now? I guess City could also have shot themselves in the foot here. Look at how much they've just lost and how many more players they have to keep happy?

Yeah I know Ashley has done some stoopid things (ground renaming included)  but at least he's got rid of a lot of our debt

Not to this degree they haven't, they'll buy a few players and build a team slowly.

Tevez is where they've lost out imo. Balotelli is good but nothing special really. City got lucky with Aguero, amazing player. They have a few average players and some really special ones like Silva. They splashed the cash and just got lucky. Fair play to them and well done you on a great start to the season with Newcastle

We were just as bad going for everyone we could get but it wasn't all about the money it was all about one man: Jose Mourinho. City won't dominate as long as Roberto Twatini is managing them, not a chance. He's got lucky so far but it won't last. It doesn't matter who they buy as long as he is at the helm. They'll have a lot of success but they won't dominate.

Yeah, but as has been said, not much opposition as yet  I guess today's result just gears us up for what we have to come to and what it takes to deal with it. We'll come out strong

Ok, we'll have to wait and see how this season goes and of course the next few seasons, but im worried about our game at the moment.

Nothing anti City in my opinions, their fans have been brilliant for their club and they do deserve some good times, but I want to go back to how football used to be, building teams over several seasons, hard work and training, youth teams and scouts.

Blackburn did start this trend I admit, but not anywhere near this level.

Yes, but im sure he didn't have this in mind when he got rid of the minumum wage.

good luck to them i say...there's not a supporter of any club who'd say they didn't want to see the kind of players city have got,or the kind of money they've got,it's been going on as prom says for years...i used to have this 'arguement' with darlo...him saying chelsea bought the title, and as i said to him..utd bought it too..ferdinand,rooney,vidic,van der sar etc etc...even now they're buying...every club does

no there's not a club in the land who can compete with city financially, but there's also not a club in the land who'd say 'no thanks' if they were offered the take over deal city have got.

i know 2 long standing city fans and they love it..and who can blame them?..they've struggled for years and years and been in the shadow of utd..now utd are the worried team

i've watched/supported  chelsea since the mid seventies..i cried when we won the league,i never ever thought we'd win it,i didn't care how we won it..just that moment of..'god we've done it' will stay with me forever.

Just look at it this way... two teams in one City. One owner is pouring money into the game, bringing some of the greatest players to walk this earth to the premier league and creating jobs in the community. The owner of the club on the other side of the City is taking money out of his club and has stuck his debts on it.

I know which one I would be more outraged with...

exactly..

there seems to be this idea in the media that supporters of other clubs secretly love and admire utd...they don't..infact i'd go as far as saying they're one of the most despised clubs by other supporters.

i remember watching a fa cup game on tv a few years back...derby v utd...utd were 4-1 up or something and the commentator said 'well the derby fans can now just sit back and admire utd at their best'........did he honestly think that's what they'd do?!!!

infact i'd say most fans of other clubs are enjoying the city success purely because it rubs utd's noses in it

How could you have watched Chelsea since the 70's?  they only started up in 1994.

Videostar

My sons are mega Chelsea fans (the first 2 in my huge family to support them) and they are teased by their uncles about being trophy hunters etc.

I'm quite pleased that Man City are doing so well. The way I see it is that no matter what is spent on a team, if it doesn't blend and gel well then they will never be successful. The English National team is supposed to be the cream of the crop, but they've never captured my imagination like some (so-called) lesser nations who look like well oiled united machines, who play with heart and look like they're having fun doing something they like doing.

At the moment, Man City look like they're having a blast, and I'm happy for their fans too.

So, I agree with Joe....it's just a bit of fun, that also happens to be a multi-billion quid industry

which made it all the sweeter when we started winning things...after travelling to places like rotherham and watching us being thumped, the idea of us competing in the european cup, winning the league,fa/league cups seemed a million miles away in those days.

so i don't care how we did it..we did it..
