it's awful my hometown and quite a lot of the pupils in the school I taught in today were there - very sad and incomprehensible

It was posted a few days ago and is not related to what's happened but I'm posting it as a memoriam and my late grandparents lived near Manchester.
Today at work we received an e-mail urging us all to be extra vigilant over the heightened terrorist threat and giving some guidelines as to what to be wary off and how to report any suspicions we may have!

I've just been listening to BBC News 24: apparently 64 people were admitted to hospital, and the doctors were treating many of them (including children) without knowing who they were, and were therefore unable to inform their families.
20 are still being treated for serious injuries. One extraordinary thing that came out is that many of the "walking-wounded" apparently took one look at how busy the hospitals were, decided they didn't want to use up resources and checked themselves out!

Exactly! Sometimes you don't know the extent of your injuries until the next day or so.
Not a big surprise, but Ariana Grande has cancelled her London gigs due tomorrow and Friday, as well as other tour gigs up to and including June 5th. The official line doesn't go any further than that, but apparently there's still some doubt as to whether the tour will restart on the 7th.

The second was to say that NHS staff should not wear their uniforms to and from work, or keep them well covered.
The third was to say that Wishaw staff MUST NOT wear their uniforms to and from work, at all!

Aye, I've always wondered....should I be wearing my lanyard out in the open, now that we're on a par with the prison service....known as HMPPS (Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service).

The station that I listen to has a BBC News Hour every day at 1pm, and I just caught the tail end of them saying something about how Manchester Police are refusing to share information with the U.S., and how embarrassed U.S. officials are/would be about that. Any idea what that's about?

Not this time: it's US government officials leaking intelligence to the press.
It actually started on the night itself: as I was watching events unfold, the BBC reported that US sources (initially US press, but later said to be US security sources) had announced that it was a suicide bomber - at that point the police here had not confirmed that. However it became a big deal when the US press published details of Salman Abedi, and the final straw was when the New York Times printed photos of bomb fragments and Abedi's backpack. The police here were furious because it was evidence and they thought announcing it publicly at this stage could jeopardise the ongoing investigation.

UK sharing intelligence with US again
Information sharing has resumed between the UK and US, the BBC understands.
The Home Secretary confirmed on Thursday sharing of information between security services and police would stop after the name of the Manchester bomber and photos from the crime scene had been leaked to the US press.
But now a decision has been taken to end the temporary suspension after assurances were received by counter-terrorism officers in the UK.
