A man was arrested the other day for being drunk. He had been seen kissing a long-time dead possum on the road. He must have been very drunk not to have realised!

The possum was maybe just pretending to be dead because of the drunk's rotten breath. Have heard lots of wives use this tictac! Hence the saying "playing possum". I could be wrong though

I wish you were wrong, unfortunately the BBC article clearly shows that the possum was no more, it was an ex-possum.

He was charged for being drunk in a public place. I was tempted to say that he was charged for being drunk in possession of a possum but I resisted. Needless to say this happened in the USA.

Actually the photo just shows a possum lying motionless on the road - it's doesn't seem to be squashed and there's no visible injury. I gave the warning so that anyone clicking on the link would know in advance that there was a photo of the possum. Though of course it could be another possun just playing possum.
