No men take that as a compliment!

That's sort of what I meant. Calling a man a slag is not really an insult. It's almost a compliment. Unless it's to a gay man who is 'scene' maybe.

Isn't it other women, mostly, who are judging them?

Both sexes do the judging I think, quick to leap upon the morals of girls but guys can get away with sleeping about and wey hey they're a stud. Well that's my opinion anyway.

I agree LL. My dad was very strict and the time I grew up you knew it was girls that set the boundaries but having had a teenage daughter I think the world is much more dangerous for girls nowadays. And also Sophie is a gorgeous looking girl au naturelle, so why does she plaster herself with makeup and get fake boobs and end up looking worse than she would do being herself? In the shower the other day she looked lovely and then later on when she was 'ready for the day' she looked much worse. Sad Frowner

Slags are quite popular if you're a teenage lad, you know. Ninja

I maintain it's biological thinking, from our very distant past. Men are studs if they sleep around because it shows virility. Women are slags if they sleep around because it shows infidelity. That's why I say the equivalent insult for a man is 'poof'. That implies a lack of virility or manliness in this way of thinking.

I still think women do the most judging of this, or the most vicious judging anyway. I've been open-mouthed at what's been said behind other women's backs in my circle of friends and acquaintances. Men don't usually do that unless they've been rejected by the woman and their pride is offended.

No Mathematics, player is still a 'compliment' word not an insult word. There seems to be no male equivalent that has that implication of sleaze that slag has.

Iv never seen anyone who had crabs before. Do they walk sideways like normal crabs?

I don't know. *shudders again*

I quite like a 'treasure trail' on a man but I've also heard it called a 'crab ladder' which is a little less attractive. Laugh

We used to refer to mates of ours who trawled the scene as tasty tarts.
Full time TTs or part time depending on the frequency of their activities Big Grin

Btw I really agree with your post about how women do more of the judging of other women than men do. I'v often found when out in a group that women will check out a woman who enters their space as possible competition long before a man has given them the once over

you're old fashioned Big Grin

what's wrong with women "acting like men"? if there's something wrong with the behaviour people surely should be pointing the finger at men too and getting them to stop.

It's just the usual double standards where obnoxious behaviour is tolerated in the male but not in the female - time to stop adding gender labels to it and just look at if the behaviour is acceptable in society or not, not which sex is doing it Roll Eyes

With respect I think that is the point which LL was making, that unfortunately there is and always will be the 'double standard thinking' and girls are just setting themselves up for a fall (and attack by other women) if they think that they can 'buck the status quo'.
squiggle
I'd call a man like that a dog or a goat.

However, there is undeniably a double standard between men and women. If a women has had many partners then I think it's a difficult thing to tell a man that she loves because it's something that tends to be used by men to judge a woman.

I think that there is a difference between 'slag' and 'slut'. When we were discussing a boot purchase I was making on the sWG forum it was suggested light-heartedly that they were slutty and that this was a good thing, however, I think slag would have had a more derogatory meaning in that context; sluttish boots I would buy, but not slaggy.

....plenty of women don't live in this Victorian ideal of - women should be this way, men should behave that way and shock upon shock, they also don't give a shit if most other men or women approve of how they are

......unfortunately, too many sheeple stuck in their ways out there too Frowner

That is a very brave attitude "I will do as I like and I don't care what others think of it" but how easy is it to live it? Don't get me wrong, I started this thread because I HATE this double standard thinking but it never seems to change. Same now as when I was younger, unfortunately.

I agree Kaytee, isn't it sad? Why do men always get it their own way? It would seem that women can be the worst at sitting in judgement on their own sex Frowner

No trust me its definitely pervert.

Big Grin females can be perverts too.... Glance
They can be but its rarely if ever used as an unsult in the way it is towards men. It really is the same insult to a man as slag.

All these women in here thinking there isnt an equivalent just think of all the words used to describe Sree and his desperation over the last few days. You have plenty trust me you dont need anymore.

I know what you mean but Sree is mainly called a creep and that doesn't have the sleaze implications of slag.

I think we do. Sree isn't a 'bike' or a 'slag' because he isn't being accused of promiscuous behaviour.....he's more of a creep.

It is the same, how many women are called creeps? Cant you see it now?

Im not saying hes not a bit creepy BTW its just that well the truth hurts with gender based insults and there are plenty of male gender based insults out there.

The word I used is pervert, someone obsessed with women and sex and not morally acceptable. It has been directed at a few male HMs too not because they ran around in a gimp suit either.
