I see this horrible definition of women bandied about all the time. Tell me is there a male equivalent?

I would use the same word. In fact speaking as a man I would say I have met far more male slags/sluts than the female variety! Personally I tend to use the word in a light hearted sense rather than a judgemental way.
Here's something I just can't understand
If the guy have three girls then he's a man
He can either give her some head, or sex her raw
If the girl do the same, then she's a whore

Not quite sure that calling someone a slag could be deemed light-hearted

But the table's about to turn, I'll bet my fame on it...
We use the term "sluzzer" light hearted. Banter between friends. Although it means the same as slag, slag is just too heavily loaded.
Much as though our generation would like to think that we were the ones who liberated women from all that sort of rubbish, i'm afraid it hasn't happened.
Be it people suggesting that Gail might like to wear a wig, Noreen being a slag, or some other moron thinking that she should have a boob job, young women IMO, aren't much better off than before.

I've heard my two boys use the expression 'manwhore' for male friends of theirs who will sex anything female that moves no matter how nasty.
It's not the word (although I do hate that word) it's the double standards that I really take exception to.

As an example: I might say to a friend who has been putting it about a bit 'you old slut/slag' and we would laugh about it. I have often heard women saying this to each other amid fits of laughter! I am aware that some are offended by the word, no matter how its used and would be very careful not to say it to someone who might take offence!

Can't say I have ever used that word to anyone in a light-hearted way, but yes I agree you should be aware of who you say it to, if you must say it

That would be the East London way then
in North London (for some reason) it is customary to insert an 'H' after the 'S' for added emphasis.
"You Shhhhllllaaaaaaaaggggg"
Slug?

In recent years I have only used the word once or twice with my closest friend and with my old workmate who certainly was one!
philanderer! no that's not the same either.

Biological, innit. Man can't really be slags. We can be poofs though. That's actually the equivalent term of abuse.

Sadly I think that's true. I hate this double standard thinking and I hate even more that girls think that they can behave like guys now and its OK and then get called all sorts of names behind their backs
I think dirty skank could be equally applied to either.

No men take that as a compliment!
Bollock Brain?
I also think tramp is quite a gender balanced insult

Isn't it other women, mostly, who are judging them?

I have told one in the past he was just that but on a general basis, probably not
