The psychopath night on C4 recently was very good at pointing out that in the case of a psychopath they can come across as very charming (amongst other traits). I wonder if similar types of "internal" mechanisms are at work in the mind of a child abuser.
I find it plausible that part of his makeup may be that he has a perceived or real level of intelligence which to us would make us question his actions but to him it is one element of his psychological make-up.
