Which BBC radio? Radio 2 said a young child. Not that the age of the child makes a difference, but saying this sort of thing in the digital age can influence the case, and I am sure well paid defence lawyers will do their best to use it.

BBC Wales are reporting the one year old thing...

As are the BBC and the Independent link I posted up there^^^ so it was obviously said in open court. It doesn't take a lot of working out that the 20 and 24 women who have also been remanded in custody are more than likely the mother's of the identified victims, so the children will be very young. Innocent until proven guilty and all that, but given that the charges include child abuse image offences, and that they are in custody, then the police must have very compelling evidence. Also a police/NSPCC helpline has been set up,  including a number to call from abroad, which suggests that they suspect there's a lot more.

I can't (like most people) understand how these people can do that to a child, but to do it to your own child just really can't compute.  Isn't it just instinct that as a Mother you will go to any lengths to protect your child?

We were talking about this at work and I'm glad you like them because you can probably answer the question that came up DPGT.

We were wondering now that this news has emerged, would you now buy any of their music ?

probably not 'buy', but maybe naughtily download so they don't get any money... but then again I wouldn't download anything by Gary Glitter because of who he is, what he did and because his songs were shite.

Fascinating! Mrs Jer and I were discussing this yesterday. We still don't know who the Lost Prophets are, but agree on the Blanket Ban on GG. Whenever Ken Bruce starts off with MJ, we shout vile insults at the radio and switch him off-it's tradition. However I happen to know that Satan is  bringing me the new Who and LZ albums. Isn't life full of contradictions?

I was following Mark William Thomas' tweets from the sentencing this morning, and was getting myself in to a right angry state at some of the things the defence were coming out with.

35 years, is for once a decent sentence, but I agree it should be a sentence long enough to ensure he never walks free again.  You know it will be appealed against using the 'the sentence is too long because they have used his fame to make an example blah blah blah'.

His life is (thankfully) virtually over, especially if other leads being followed atm will prove enough for another court appearances. Once he's out on licence at the age of 75, he wont be able to take a step without being watched. Of course he might die in prison, he's abused his own body enough for some sort of chromic disease to get him.

Yes, I have to admit I feel like that about the mothers too .....totally incomprehensible to me !

What pathetic excuses were made?

What i cannot ever understand is why a high profile person would so blatantly risk his reputation/liberty and expect to get away with it.

Out of sheer curiosity i have watched interviews with Ian Watkins and he appears alert, bright and intelligent.

He had it all - risked it all and never considered the consequences.

Incomprehensible to do that - never mind to want to do what he did.

I'm not so sure that "thinking he was safe" was on his mind. I think that he is an individual with a serious problem, his view of the world would looked extremely wrong to us, but to him it may not be the case.

We have to be careful not to assume he thinks in the same way we do.

Therefore the two mothers think the same way as him too then

I'm not sure it's black and white, there may be degrees to this (a psychologist would be able to put up a much better explanation than me).

But clearly the mothers don't have the boundaries the vast majority of people do. I also wonder if drug taking made it slightly easier for them the sink to the levels of depravity they did.

For me the sentencing should be a lot harsher. I think anyone involved in this type of sickening act should start with a minimum sentence of 50 years before parole is even considered. After all they could have potentially destroyed lives before they had even begun.

I say put them all on an island somewhere far far away but I know we can't do that so the next best thing is for them to end their lives in jail
